So... I own multiple knives, I'm just not very happy with them. One is a VERY old Schrade that was passed down from my grandfather. The Schrade is the one that I would like to use, but it WILL NOT keep an edge, plus the tip is damaged.
So, I'm looking for the best fixed blade knife for $200-$250. Uses: Skinning deer, rabbits, snakes, etc The often cutting of rope, string, etc Splitting wood, feathering, etc. I would like a VERY strong, and razor sharp blade, no matter how hard it is to sharpen. Blade length maybe 4"-5" along with a handle with a hole for some paracord. Thanks, Jake.

Take a look at the Bark River Bravo-1 series of knives. They were designed for outdoor activities and fall right in your price range. The knife is available in three different steels: A2, S35VN, and 3V. They're convex ground for a more robust but sharp edge and are very ergonomic. Knivesshipfree is a dealer here on BF and they have a very large selection of them to choose from.

Get a Bk-16/17 and take the extra cash for a nice sheath and a better set of scales. In the end you will have an awesome knife that you will love. Or look into Bark River Knives, works of art really:thumbup:

Welcome to Blade Forums !!!!
Go to the knife makers forum, they sell them and take orders. Why not have a custom made from someone here. Your budget is doable in what you are looking for. Good luck!!!

Rodent Solution or Ratmandu.
The RS would be better for small game but I'm sure the RMD could pull it off.
Extremely hard use knives, razor sharp, killer warranty. Only downsides are you'd have to buy a sheath separately, and the wait time. Although the sheath issue may be a plus since you can have something custom made to fit your needs.
Good luck!

Take a look at Esee. Great all around knives. The best warranty in the business. No questions asked, transferable, and forever. The 4, Laserstrike, or 6 would be great. Other than that BRKT is very good as well. Becker is very good as well but some don't care for the sheaths.

The survive 4.1 in 3V steel is the knife you seek. Be patient. They are worth it. Go look at the survive subforum. Survive Knives just moved from Gettysburg, PA to Idaho. They run small batches of their blades and you can only buy directly from them, so just hawk their website and sign up for their news letters. When they are in stock, they will have enough for you to get one. I have a 5.1, a 3.5 and a necker and they quality of build is exceptional.
