Yay, my Compadre has arrived-Pictures

Congrats! I will be interested in your first impression of such a classic knife.

The Compadre arrived today.

It's a nice kniofe, but I wouldn't say it's an outstanding knife. First of all, I do love the color. I like colorful things. Sharp too. I was a little dissapointed in the handles. I thought they would have some sort of better finish on them. They are nice and smooth, and I know they are laminate, so they probably are impregnated with something, but I was a bit surprised they weren't finished a little better. They just feel like sanded wood.

Also, the fit of the wood to the metal isn't perfectly flush. The metal is a proud on top. I compared it to an ESEE 4, which is about the same size, although the ESEE costs a little more. Fit and finish on the ESEE is perfect- it's what I would have expected on the Buck.

I still like it, but I was hoping for better.

It sounds like a table spoon of boiled linseed oil and one sheet of sand paper could correct these issues. I'm glad you like it. DM
