I got the green light from the wife to get a fire kit. I think it's because she wants to confiscate it. Who cares. Got one on the way!

It's always nice to get to play with a new toy! I might have to check the RAT kit out one of these days. This might be a stupid question, but what is so different about the RAT kit that other firekits/steels don't have?

From what I've heard, it throws a lot bigger sparks. Plus, the logo is just badass:D

Yeah, it throws balls of molten metal that stay hot for several seconds.
 
been reading so much about these I just had to go order one! Ordered it from KSF along with some more para-cord, can't have to much of that!! Can't wait!

I've been wanting to put together a lil' neck kit anyway., I think this'll be perfect for that.

What is your guys' preferred striker? knife spine... hacksaw blade..?
 
The spine doesnt work all that well...

Cant say anything about the hack saw blade though.


The edge of a knife works very well...but its kind of tough on it.

Well that's ok. From what the wife told me last night when I told her I ordered it, I'll be back down to one as soon as they get here anyways. Her words, "You ordered one? Are you just going to borrow mine?" LOL
 
I need to get one of these. I like to play with fire in the winter and I think it will be just the thing for me.
 
Like you Dylan, I got the green light to order one too from my wife, but somehow it turned into a discussion about a a washing machine and before I knew it I had spent $598 on a washing machine and had nothing left for the fire kit.... :/

Warning to all readers... never marry a woman that is smarter then you are....
 
Hope you have fun with it. I am going to get one as soon as I get an the RC5 and an Izula. Unless the HEST is out by time I get those. Than I have to wait a little longer.
 
My Wife and I both have one each now along with an Izula a piece. Essential gear in my opinion. 8-)
