I stopped at my favorite "junk shop" on my way into work today, and sitting on a shelf were these two electrician's knives. Both have handles that look to be a plasticy type of material. Perhaps delrin? celluloid? phenolic? Don't know. One is black, and other other looks like it's a faded reddish/brownish/brick color. The black handled one is tang stamped "Camco." Never heard of it. Is that Cammilus?
The faded brick knife is just marked "Made in U.S.A." with no company stamp, so I'm not sure who made it.
Both have a liner-lock type lock for the screwdriver. Both have nice tight springs. I have a hell of a time getting the screwdriver on the black handled one to open. it opens, but it'll break a nail first!
Anyway, any information that you can give me at all would be appreciated. Got them both for $10 out the door, so I figured it was worth the gamble.
I'd love to know when they might have been made, by whom, what the handle material might be, and anything else you could tell me.
Edit to add: I really like that on the black handled one, you can tell the last thing that the previous owner did with the blade was sharpen a pencil. Look at the graphite streaks.
