Sanu & Bura are thoroughbred Arabian stallions. Kesar is an old workhorse who will pull the plow all day long and never falter.

Give Kesar something fancy and out of the ordinary to do and he will produce something like this YCS.

Don't get me wrong. This knife is top notch -- 17.5 inches and 25 ounces of fine khukuri -- it just ain't a YCS.

Here are the variations.

Blade profile is not per model.

Karda and chakma are not per model.

Awl is not per model but has a sharp point which makes me believe that Kesar did not use the models at all. Remember, the point got broken off the wood model and awls started arriving here with blunt points -- PER MODEL.

Inlay is not nicely done like Sanu and Bura do it. It's okay but lacks the perfection you see in Sanu & Bura inlay.

The YCS is supposed to be silver mounted -- the mounting on Kesar's YCSs looks like polished steel to me.

The keeper on the YCS should be a 7 pointed star -- Kesar gave us a hexagon.

All that aside, it's a hell of a khukuri, hell of a rig, and a hell of a deal for $145.

I have three.

Call or email.

Interesting....

Except for the bolster on the awl, and the handle inlays that entire rig looks pretty much identical to the plain YCS I've got that was made by Kesar--even to the hexagonal keeper. Always thought it seemed different from the photos, especially the belly. Looks like he's consistent on the differences.

BTW, this is a great deal, the Kesar varient is nicely balanced and great chopper. Can't compare to a "real" YCS, this confirms that one of those is still on my wish list.

There may be some differences, but that is still one hell of a knife. She sure looks good to this guy.

I kinda like it whether it's a YCS or not.:D

Oughta be one helluva chopper from the way it looks!!!!

I hear you. I don't know what I am going to do with all that money.

Seriously I want to get the reserve funds paid back and then start buying for Santa Claus.

I got the Serupati and I'll give you the run down on it tomorrow. That is a hell of a knife too.

I think I love all three of them.

Me and the newest one have some serious work to do outside.
Catch you later Uncle Bill and God Bless.

Looks pretty kool to me, and a great deal. But today's my aniversary, and I KNOW my wife doesn't want a khukuri :) someone buy this one and put me out of my misery.

I would like to get this one but I still need to pay you for the GS you sent to me last month!:( :)

Uncle,

I love this knife! I will consult the Gods of Debt and get back to you.

I am so happy these are all gone. I came damn close to sending Uncle an email for one of these beauties :( I just bought a new handgun (Glock 19) and I really didn't want to strain the credit card too much, the Glock was enough for one week.

Whew, I'm glad I got one of these when I did, they went quick! Don't worry guys, I'll be sure to let you know how it performs. And no, I won't be throwing this one, I promise!
