Received this YCS karda by Kuma from the DOTD on 10/11. Thank you Yangdu, just thought I would share a few close up images of the knife, just so you can see the carving of the Chandan wood handle. very pleased with the purchase, Anyone who has the chance, go get one! Excellent work, awesome handle and blade.

Scored good for sure. Handmade work like that is going to get more expensive as time goes by.

I still think that Yangdu got the dangler sheath for the JKM and the sheath for the YCS Karda mixed up. :)

Looking back on other threads, sure looks like I have a JKM sheath, who's got my sheath? who's sheath do I have?

yup i agree... it does looke like the sheaths got mixed up (wonder who has your sheath?)

how does it fit in the sheath you have now by the way?
 
It's not a bad fit, and it would be OK, just wondering how much better the original sheath would be.

Depends on what you're going to use it for. I, personally would hesitate to use it for rough use like stripping insulation from cable, battoning tinder and kindling for firewood, cleaning fish, etc.... There are better choices. I keep mine as a piece of art. But, that's just me. I use a Kismet-designed Sarge for that rough stuff. It comes with a usable sheath, but a good custom sheath is always good. :D
 
I've got a 14" carved and engraved YCS karda. I want to take it out and use it, but I just bring myself to. I think it's going to end up on a wall.

On the other hand, I've got a little 11" model. That thing is going to see some use. :)
 
Yep, I also think it is a piece for show, rather than use, there are others I would rather take to heavy use, I have never seen the larger Karda's they must be phenomenal. post pics if you can.

I have to agree, it looks you got the JKM sheath. I haven't received that knife yet because I asked Yangdu to hold it awhile along with several others until I have worked through some issues with the customs bureau / police department here.

If you want to send the sheath back to Yangdu and ask her to swap them, that would be great. Once I ask her to ship the knives in my order, no telling how long it would take to get this straightened out, what with customs, bureaucracy, etc., etc. here in Taiwan. Let me know what you decide.

James, did you get my e-mail of yesterday? I am indeed sending the JKM sheath back for the correct Karda sheath, I e-mailed Yangdu for confirmation that it was OK to do so.
