I just finished refurbishing the kardas that came with my YCS. I'm pleased with how they turned out and thought I'd share them with you.
The tang on the smaller one was not flat but slightly curved. This was causing the slabs to separate from the blade, so I removed the slabs and ground the tang down flat. I reshaped the tang for better ergonomics and installed stabilized walnut slabs with blue spacers underneath. I'll add pins to it as soon as I have access to a drill press, but those slabs are rock solid so there's no hurry.
I also reground both knife blades to fully convex with a 400 grit finish and added a very slight drop point. This was a fun project for me, hope you like the result.
