Yep looks to be a (97) late gen 1 made shortly before going to ATS-55 and the barrel bolt clip.

I bet you know it already, but don't open that! : o
That is nice stuff, thanks for sharing!

nice knife :D in pink case hehe. I assume it to be in the collection only, without real use ;)
BTW can I ask a question, there is a guy's selling a well used gen 1 delica, fully serrated, about $32, I was thinkin' about buying it as a collectible item only, is it worth the deal?

Thanks for the info! Could you put up a pic of the difference between the two clips? Just out of curiosity.

Nooooo, I like leaving it pretty and new :D

No use at all, im not opening it ;)
And thats really up to you. Like i stated, I didn't buy this one, but the older models are cool to play with, and you get to realize and appreciate the crazy amount of evolution they have gone through to reach the current generations. Plus, in this case, you can use it and see how much different they really are. In the end, I think its up to you, and how much the older model means to you.

The 98 clip would look like this

thanks, I think I'll pull the trigger and get the knife. The only thing that holds me back is the built-in FRN pocket clip. But overall, it's a nice knife that I can put into my collection.

Can I ask why Spyderco decide to blunt the tip on the delica gen 4? I think the pointy tips on the gen 1,2,3 look better and can be used much better.

Whoa, isn't this awsome! A piece of history. You can't find too many of those nowadays.

It's a combo edge, BTW.

Not sure, I prefer the older style as well.

Thats why I love it :D

And thats what I figured, from the "PS" in the model number.

I have an old Delica with the integrated clip -- it's the one in the middle...

Man -- I don't even remember it coming in a blister pack when I bought it...I recall getting it at REI, and I'm not sure it even came in a box back then...

It's still one of my go-to knives when heading for salty conditions (think beach). Between the integrated clip and AUS8 steel, I think it's about as corrosion-resistant as I could expect a pocket folder to reasonably be...

Except H1 that is ;)

To cut down on the number of broken tip warranty repairs, I would expect. It's not very hard to sand the bump on the nose of the spine down if you want the old-style tip.

I really have a lot of admiration for the Gen1 Delicas. I have used/abused/mistreated/forgotten/found/sharpened mine since I bought it in the late 80s or early 90s. I've never had any problem with the clip - and it is in some ways superior to the metal clips. It is non-replaceable, though.

I have basically retired mine now - and it no longer has the long lanyard attached. But it is a truly great blade.

Still carry my endura1

Would love a delica1 to go with it...

Love early spydercos.
Frn clips are really unnoticeable, and do their job very well
