I had never been a big fan of Spydercos, and in the 90's I gave away all of the ones I had. There were Delicas, Dragonflys, Police, Enduras, and they all went to my buddies who were EMS paramedics. Fast forward to about a couple of months ago, I decided to give Spydercos another chance and acquired a Manix 2 Sprint in Orange G10, and a Military from 23xdm3.8, a fellow forum member. I was immediately impressed by these 2 knives. They felt really good in my hand and I right away noticed their excellent fit and finish. The previous owner (23xdm3.8) had pimped out his CTS-XHP Military (brown G10), and used the titanium framelock scale from a Ti Military. The balance of the parts resulted in the Military I got from him, and it had the brown G10 liner lock and the smooth titanium scale on the display side, with the pristine S30V blade. Although it was an unusual setup, it was a very sweet knife. Lockup was nice and solid, and ergos were excellent. I was going to bring it into my EDC rotation, but decided to put it up for trade to possibly get a Large Lum, PPT, or Paramilitary 2 for it.

I was thinking about 23xdm3.8's pimped-out XHP Military, and that it must be even sweeter than the one I got.
And then, the opportunity came up to get an M4 Military from another forum member, Toyz. This was a sprint run I think, with a blade done in CPM-M4, with the black G10 display side scale, and the new titanium framelock. You can start to see where this is going.

I got it today, and couldn't wait to pimp out my Military. Here it is:

yea, it's pretty dang sweet.
When I got that first Military, I could totally understand what the fuss was about. With this full-Ti M4 Military, I am completely nuts about them now. I can't wait to use it :)

I guess I'll offer up the S30V Military back up for trade again, cept it will have black G10 & the brown G10 liner scale.

Very nice!

FWIW, the Para is about the best knife there is in its class, IMO.

Just don't break the tip on that Military; as I broke 2 tips on regular Milies (which warranty didn't cover - (one of the tips broke from pulling it out of a cutting board - should have been covered, IMO... The other tip broke from me sticking it in the floor – well, throwing it in the floor – I didn’t expect that one to be covered.); so I will not spring for a $250ish (?$$$?) Ti. Military... Too bad because I really liked that model.

EDIT: I should clarify that I broke the first one from sticking it in the floor & the second one was via cutting board – and I did call Spyderco.

Why did you stab a cutting board in the first place? Is there a normal task that involves stabbing a cutting board?

Awesome awesome idea..you beat me to it! I've been holding off on the M4 millie because of a couple customs I have on order

Spyderco's warranty doesn't cover abuse, last I checked..

I was cutting carrots, potatoes and etc…, was half way through, stuck the blade in the cutting board, pulled it out, and the tip broke off… Hardly abuse! For the price I paid for the knife, it should have been fixed, IMO. I have done the same thing with a hundred other knives with no problem at all! I have owned well over 100 Spyderco’s and know their warrantee and I DON’T consider that abuse – if you do, then I don’t what you use your knives for – sharpening pencils? Throwing in the floor = abuse, sticking 1/4" in a cutting board = not abuse, IMO. I didn’t ‘stab’ a ½” into the board – maybe ¼”; but the way I must have pulled it out broke off ¼” of the tip – maybe a little more. Anyhow, I found a real simple way to fix that problem… I have completely abused a few knives before and had them replaced ‘no questions asked’.
Sorry to sidetrack the OP, this is my last post – that is a beautiful knife!

Sorry I was referring to you throwing it on the floor..I should've made myself clear. I've used my military to cut holes through drywall numerous times as well as ceiling tiles and I haven't had any issues with mine, both the military and paramilitary 2

Thanks Ninja. Yea, I'm aware of the Spyderco warranty too. I originally asked to order a Ti framelock scale from them, but they don't sell parts like that. They also told me that if it was taken apart, the warranty was void. I take my knives apart sometimes to clean them, and I guess that's that. Kershaw/ZT on the other hand, they're actually ok with disassemby. Good point on taking care of the tip, as fine as it is. I've got a couple of custom kitchen knives though, so I'm covered on that end :).

I put it up for trade, and I'm still getting emails at 5:30AM. S30V Military with brown & black G10? Can't buy one like it :)
