My Beckers came today. These knives are every bit as cool as I'd hoped. I'm really busy between work and getting ready for Christmas so I won't have a chance to go outside and hack things up for a while. I have enjoyed holding them in the house and admiring the engineering and finish before they get scuffed up.
I was really surprised at how solid that BK2 is. Wow! I think it weighs about the same as the BK9. I can feel the additional tang thickness in the handle and really like how it feels. I'm pretty sure it's the first knife where my hand is completely relaxed and comfortable while having a full hold on the handle.
I think the BK9 may be a little more versatile for woods work, but time will tell. I'm very happy with it's balance and overall weight. It should make a great chopper and the extra length should prove the ticket for batoning larger wood.
The little BK11 is just as awesome as everyone has been saying. My hands seem a little cramped (because they're quickly getting used to the #2 and 9's huge handles), but it's a wonderful compromise of size and usability. I don't think I'll wrap my handle for now. Maybe later.
Thanks Ethan for offering us such wonderful blades. In a world with thousands of knife options, your designs really stand out. I really kicked myself for not buying every model available under Camillus. I won't make that mistake again though, now that KaBar is giving me a second chance. AND, while the only BK&T/Camillus knife I have to compare is the BK7, I'm VERY happy with the fit and finish of these KaBars. For this genre of knife I really don't see how the quality can improve. I can't wait for new designs to be released. I also plan to rat-hole duplicates once the dust settles from Christmas.
