My wife's latest interest has been Feng Shui, She's been all readin' up on it, and rearranging this, and that...She's actually a very brave girl to even attempt to decorate our home.

Anyhoo, I was asking her...uhmmmm...don't them thar Fung Shooey folks got a problem with knives? And she said not really, if you have weapons to display you should display them in your "fame" section, which happens to be the back wall of my bedroom..oh lucky me!

So she's a babblin' 'bout mirrors, and curtains, and shelves while I'm off in my own little world...hmmm...weapons to display...sawed off shotguns? nah....AR-15? AK-47? maybe that grenade launcher I took rabbit hunting last year.... Then a thought occurs to me..outta nowhere I pipe in: "Hey Karie! I got an idea! we can decorate the bedroom with a khukuri display! I could buy a few more and then show them off right beside your tiger blanket thingie majigger!! I was almost just being facetious when I said this, but...much to my surprise, she said "hey..that might look real nice!! How many should we hang there? a dozen or so??

So, I have my wife's APPROVAL to buy more khuks, and justify them as "home decor" (never mind the rust, scratches, chips, and dings that each one will slowly collect) :D

AINT THAT FREAKIN' COOL??!!

Good for you! Take my advice and do it quick though before she has a chance to change her mind. My wife still bitches about the "knife room" (the den) and I told her that if she didn't want to see them there I could always hang them in the living room next to her Monet prints.

The thought of such ghastly death weapons being put on display in her front room horrified her enough that she shut up about the den (for now!) ;)

Regards,

Norm

You can now truthfully say that your fengshui advisor has approved the display of sharppointythings and if you don't, it will be bad fengshui

That's pretty cool news, RWS:) My fiance and I are in the process of buying a house. We have reached the agreement that I can decorate the guest room with as many khuks as I want, and that I will be allowed to bring ONE khuk to the bedroom as bump in the night protection (i'm thinking a rose or my kat), but the khuks must stay out of the main living rooms unless they go with the decor. The place we're looking at has a nice old stone fireplace. I'm thinking a couple of tarwars crossing each other would go with the decor and flow of that room:D

I'm intrigued the "Fame" display section is traditionally in the bedroom....

We actually have a couple of old khukuris (two that John Powell saw fit to part with) on display right between our kitchen and family room. I guess that might not be our "fame" area, though.

If you live in a seismically active area (Alaska, SoCal, NorCal, etc), it might not be a good idea to hang them over your bed! :footinmou

Or, um, other reasons that might, um, cause the khuks to fall. <<wink wink nudge nudge same no more>>;)

RWS,
It sounds like you have a great wife! :D It's a khuk lovers dream. I am still hoping to set up a room for display someday.
It sounds like you both could have a fun time on this project. That is a win, win if ever I heard of one. I hope you share photos when you are done. It sounds GREAT!!

reconsidering what I just said, I changed my opinion. I am a happy single. I still am in need of a house and more khuk, but you can discard the wife. tempory company [like for a night] is ok to me ;)

I guess it wouldn't be very macho in a fight to say,"I'm gonna open up a can of feng shui on you."

I was allowed to have a "Hall of Swords" - impressed some, made cautious others.

The khuks await display in a new home, yet to be...

donutsrule, congrats on your post 1,000!

Congrats Runs With Scissors! Not every woman is like that as you already know. My Barbie is an absolute Jewel. I could hang khuks from about any wall I wanted too without Barb saying much other than, "Let's be sure and get them high enough so that any little kids that come over won't get hurt.":D
Actually there's a Sundang hanging on the wall of the intersection of the kitchen and dining room such as they are. Our living room, dining and kitchen all flow together.
There's a couple of khuks laying by my recliner, a couple on the wall behind me in the living room, and an array of 5 'Hawks hanging on the other dining room wall.
Probably not one man in 10,000 as lucky as I am to have such a mate! :D

You've got that right Edutsi...give her my love!
