I had just laid down for a nap,of all days to be kind of down.

Anyways I had just dozed off and there was a tap at the door. I knew who and what that was!!

I liked to have stumbled over my feet getting there.

I was patient also. After unwrapping and checking out the fine scabbard I pulled out the chakma and karda, not bad,the chakma was sharp on the end.I pulled out the 15" Ang Khola payng attention to all the warnings and what a knife!!

After fondleing it and looking at the differences between it and my old India Kukri I took it out back.It does the job well.
Now guys get this.
I really wanted an 18" Ang Khola.
Bill went ahead and sent me this one to see how I would like it.
It is everything that I expected.
It is a little bit light for me as I am pretty good sized.

My Sweety came home and I was showing it to her and the differences between it and the old India one. I told her I liked it,but really wanted the 18" one.
"She said what will you do with this one."
I said."I thought I would give it to you." as she was standing there holding it with a smirky smile.

She said."ALLRIGHT !! "

Uncle Bill I will be wanting an 18" Ang Khola after the first of next month when my check gets here.In the meantime I will "borrow" Barbies knife.

Hi, Yvsa, and many thanks for the report.

I was almost sure you would like that 15 incher but I will get the 18 inch for you. If you want to trade the 15 inch in on the 18 inch when it arrives that's fine. Go ahead and use the knife all you want. You will not hurt it.

American Indians usually love the HI khukuri and can "feel" the work and the blessing.

Uncle Bill I already gave it to my wife. Now she isn't Indin but you wouldn't know it by her looks and actions.
If I traded "Her" knife off she would probably take my hair with one of the others laying around here.

It makes a just right sized blade for her.

I will take the 18" when they come in.

You're right about the work and the blessing.
There is also something else. I have seen references to the "Four Rings" around the handle. If you count the one on each side of the raised ring, that makes six. With a hand wrapped around it,that would make seven. That would relate to the Seven Directions. The four cardinal and up and down and center,or where you are.
I have found much in common with many other peoples around the world ad almost all of the "Old Ones" have the Seven Sacred Directions.
This may be pushing it some on the knife, but I like the similarity.
It just kinda adds to the Blessing for me.

Yvsa, I have found many similarities between the Tibetan-Sherpa culture and the American Indians. Some of the songs sound the same to my untrained ear and some of the dances look the same to me.

When the Dali Lama went to New Mexico and spoke to Navajo, Hopi, and others from the southwest they figured they were all brothers. I happen to agree.

I liked your interpretation of the rings. I have heard several stories about them but they generally refer to the four winds or directions but I know the little raised ridge once meant something very important. I like your idea of "where you are" because for you and everybody that is the center of one's own personal universe and it cannot be the same for any two people.

Uncle Bill, I recall one of my first questions to you was the "feel" of WWII, my wife who is did "feel" what I was trying to describe.

Greg, I "think" I can feel the vibes of the khukuri but that could be because I have been there and the blade is simply bringing back old memories. But there are some who have never been to Nepal, never seen a Gurkha or kami, who swear they can "feel" the vibes, also. I am not one to doubt them.
