For anyone who knows..... Did the 716 come with a basket weave sheath, plain, or both depending on production year?
I have one with a plain sheath, but not sure it is original to the knife.
If not, there is one on Ebay with the basket weave sheath I will grab.
 
Probably both.
I seem to remember the basket weave sheath came with several knives, but was discontinued to cut costs & reduce the number of sheaths stocked.
Does your plain sheath say Camillus, or have any other markings?
 
It says Camillus on the flap. Seems to fit the knife with about half an inch clearance between the knife and top of flap when snapped.
 
Then that is likely an original sheath for the knife.
That is the problem of cost cutting & a one size fits all sheath policy!
The basket weave one MIGHT fit a little better.
How much is it on ebay?
The 716 is getting hard to find.

They were also made with genuine stag, 716C.

The patented spring system on that double lock back is one of my favorite patents.
 
The last two 716s, new in box, went for a little over a $100. Some new ones without box or sheath, went for about $50 or so.
