I just picked up a nice older Schrade Walden 4" stockman, stamped 8OT on the pile side clip master tang. Clip main has the earlier long swedge (early '60s), and no other blade is stamped. Badge shield is typical of the 881, not an Old Timer. What say you, experts?

Most likely scenario is the blade probably snuck in there when it wasn't meant to. It happens sometimes, and other than the stamp they were the exact same blade.

There was an 8OTY but it was only listed in 1990. It was likely a result of having 881Y handles (which was discontinued at the time) and sticking 8ot blades in, but it was actually a catalogued pattern. The blades were only stamped 8ot, no y.

Thanks, kg, I thought it was pretty unusual. They made the 881Y for quite a long time, so one or two goofs were bound to slip through.
