Art, your craftsmanship is always top notch, and you know I am a fan of your work. This one though, something about that large spanish notch next to the guard looks a little funny to me. I don't know if the notch makes the guard look bigger or if a longer ricasso would help break it up. I do like the look of a dropped edge with the raised clip, though. It is a smaller knife so I understand not having much room to play with, but it just kinda stands out to me.

Great work!

Art, maybe one or the other might suit my tastes but from a fit and finish point of view, I see nothing to complain about! I think if the ricasso were shortened up, basically coming straight back from the notch and have the guard follow the shape of the bolster might make it a mean looking little hunter! I hve a similarly shaped piece I'm working on that's a bit bigger (6" blade) and I really struggled with the guard/notch area.

I'd like to talk to you about a knife, do you take orders? I can be reached via emal at fast14riot@gmail.com

I think we are talking two different ideas. I was talking about shortening from edge to spine direction. Bring the edge side ricasso up to the plunge/notch intersection and bring the exposed tang part of the guard back to follow the shape of the bolsters. Creating a narrow waisted knife.

I hope my comments about your design are taken just as a running commentary, and not as critical of your work. As I have stated in the past I am a big fan of your style and can hope to get as good as you someday. I just like discussing your designs with you to help in my own making. You seem to favor 4" knives and less, which I also really like, you use fine materials with flowing design for all around great looking knives. Your little white handled and engraved B&T knife was really a catalyst for me to make knives.

Cheers!

I'm going to have to think about that, I drove 500 miles today and I'm a little dense tonight. I try to get the guard to follow the front edge of the bolster , but sometimes I get a little lazy .
You are welcome to talk about anything on my knives and even if it is critical. I can take it. hee hee I really think it's good to be able to talk abot anothers design.
