I ordered one of the new Yellow 301's and got one with some issue's going on. Mine looks like it got out without the final finishing being done to it. The springs are uneven and one of the Yellow sides didnt get buffed out, you can see where the saw actually cut the delrin, Anybody else have any issue's with the new Yellow ones.

That's very disappointing to hear. The fit and finish on the new offerings of late have been bad. I hope it improves.

STDY,
Can you post some photo's of your issues, a photo is worth a thousand words!

Thats really unfortunate. I really thought the with the new yellow offering, it would bring some slip joint folks over to give them a try. It doesn't take long for the word of quality issues to spread.

This one really has me contemplating not buying any more "NEW Production" Bucks online anymore. But just waiting for the NKCA show to roll into Louisville in October. I will still be buying the Older ones online just not the new ones. Lets hope Buck gets this under control quickly.

Thanks for the feedback. Will check it out. Our focus is on fit and finish with the slipjoints so this is really disappointing. As always we stand behind the product and you can return it but that is not the goal. We really want you to feel good about the products you buy the first time and be consistent in delivering finely crafted products.

CJ,
Thanks for the reply, I have no doubt that things will work out with the quality and appreciate the values that Bucks stand for. I will continue to be a loyal customer, just wont be buying offline. Luckily I live in Kentucky with alot of great knife shows.

Thats the great thing about this s/f, The comments go directly to the top. Its good for a company to get direct consumer input, positive and negative, so situations like this can be remedied.
Hopefully Buck will be know as the company with the best customer service, thats never needed.

Interesting.. This is the 2nd one in a week described like this.

Do you have the box with the date on the UPC label? If so can you post me the date.
one out of here like that is strange, but 2, something is really wrong. It looks like we might have shipped some factroy blems instead of sending them to the store.

Any packaging info and some photos would help.

I've noticed with car forums on the internet that you can really get a bad impression because there could be a thousand happy customers that never post for every one that has a problem.

And with cars.....the one unhappy buyer usually posts with great emotion.

So.....we have to keep it all in a realistic perspective.

I must say this is a great way for Buck to get early warnings on problems, though.

Love this forum!

Feel like I gotta say a little something, since I was the poster of the original report on the new Yellow 300s. I appreciate the folks from Buck commenting and getting involved.

Heres some 301 pictures of the one I received, which was not hand picked by anyone. Like most any production knife it has very very small flaws, but remember I am Mr.Critical 300 I can find fault in Custom Stockman costing half a thousand dollars......I still say this is a good production stockman pocket knife.

Is that visible gap a flaw, I don't know what STDKs looked like but I find it fully acceptable production knife finish.
Yellow301Bottom.jpg

Are the little cross buffing marks on the liners flaws, they aren't on the other end but you have to look really close to see them, remember if you want a hand finished, mirror polished knife get ready to spend closer to a hundred bucks....

this is just my 300Bucks being a hard case. I would like to see the grind start just a hair below the edge of the nail nic. This one is a mite close. But is it a flaw, just a factor of automated machines, machines that keep your knifes cost down.

I stand by my statement of the knives I received were fit and finished well for a upteen thousands production knife, I hope STDK got a rare lemon, and has it made right.............By what I have heard from folks that PM me, they have been satisified...... The old standard black sawcut sets a high standard...............300Bucks
