Greetings to All!

Being rather new to collecting Buck knives I have "discovered" the Yellowhorse Buck 110s. I have purchased two of them and think they are
absolutely beautiful examples of art. Reading another thread elsewhere I saw that Buck supposedly no longer offers Yellowhorse customs. I am wanting to know as much about these Yellowhorse creations and am interested in the history of the relationship between Yellowhorse and Buck. Does anyone know much about this or where I can go to find out? I purchased Bear Mountain by David Yellowhorse and Sedona Chief by Brian Yellowhorse, both are 110s.
Did Buck manufacture these knives using Yellowhorse's design or did Yellowhorse modify standard Buck 110s and then resell?

I have lots of questions and appreciate anyone taking the time to school me on this subject.

If the knife is signed Yellowhorse Custom, David bought the skeleton from Buck, did the work and marketed it himself. If the knife was sold through Buck, the skeletons were given to David for finishing then returned to Buck for distribution.

There was a period of time, roughly 1986 through 1996, that David Yellowhorse did work exclusively for Buck. His knives were featured in our annual catalogues. Since then David has done a few more projects and his sons have joined in. I think the one common denominator here is that they all do awesome work!
I am mostly familiar with the knives done during the 86-96 timeframe and the handful of other projects in our more recent catalogues. I know there are a few dealers that have purchased standard Buck knives and worked with Yellowhorse to make limited editions. I am not that familiar with those projects. You can send me an email and I will give you what info I do have.

Joe, thanks for the input. I would love to send you an email with questions about the Yellowhorse knives. Could you provide me an email address?

The Yellowhorse 110's never really appealed to me. They are beautiful pieces but I tend to go for more utilitarian designs.

However I must admit I started looking at them more seriously after I heard of David's generosity and work on JB's custom knife. Anyone who would do something like that for a fellow forum-ite is alright in my book  So I'm a new Yellowhorse fan and future customer :D
