Always late to the party I recently started watching Yellowstone. As season 5 started i began with season 1 episode 1 and finally cracked season 4. Its not for the children or weak at heart and the cowboy life is brutal but the scenery is spectacular.
Anyways i noticed the main character John Dutton played by Kevin Costner seems to wear a Buck 110 or 112 on his belt. Speculation up until an episode in the 4th season when he pulled it out and did a two handed open on a brass bolstered knife to cut some rope.
Usually i pause and rewind to get a better look but i’ll just not and be satisfied it’s a 110/112.
He also carries a 1911 and a lever action letting his son carry the Glocks and AR’s.

Watched 1883 first which peeked my interest in Yellowstone even though at the time I didn’t know it was actually the first Dutton Family that settled in Yellowstone. Now i’m just starting 1923 and learning the historical connections with Yellowstone as well.
Haven’t felt this excitement over a series since Game Of Thrones. Was late to that party too!

Just makes you wonder why they decided to equip John Dutton with the venerable Buck as a prop? Did Buck have anything to do with it(subliminal advertisement) or someone on the set likes our iconic folder that certainly fits the role in this amazing series?

I remember that he was whittling with a 110 in front of his fireplace in an earlier scene. I was wondering who cleaned up his mess afterwards (in the movie).

I have never seen "Yellowstone" or any of the spinoffs, but the more I hear about it, the more I'm interested.

A guy who carries a Buck 110, a 1911, and a lever gun is okay in my book! It's very Longmire-ish!

Think of how many old school Border Patrol guys were equipped exactly the same way over the years.

It's also possible the knife is Kevin's personal knife. If he is cutting something they can't use a prop.

I guess i missed that scene?

You didn’t miss it - I remembered wrong. Season 1, Ep.1, 0:29:31, smaller Buck:

Their choice of knives, choice of guns, and choice of jackets ( a lot of US made Schafer outfitters ) in the show are great.
I'm not really into the show myself though, I just don't care for overly serious dramas like that.
They just aren't entertaining for me.

I started binge watching it a week ago and I just started season 4. I'll have to keep my eye out for his knife. So far, Yellowstone is right up there with Longmire, in my book.

Alright, I’ve heard too much about this show not to watch it now. A couple buddies said it’s damn good, you’re all hooked, guess I know what I’ll be doing with some free time.
