Well, i had a few minutes to kill and so i stopped by a local shop, "Guns and Knives", guess what they sell? :) Anyway, the guys there know im into high-end knives, and he said he just got in an interesting Spyderco, so, im thinking, how special can it be? Well, turns out, pretty darn special.

Its a ltd. ed. Delica, with a very pretty jigged bone handle, and, get this, very well done, mosaic damascus bolster, with very vivid, little Spyderco spiders on it! Very cool knife for the Spyderco fanatic. This is a retail shop, and it was priced at $495, ouch. But, i just saw one on Ebay for under $400, and i bet they can be had for even less. I guess i would have to say that i would get one if the price were about $300. Its definitely a novelty, but i have to say, the knife was well put together, zero blade play in either direction, perfect lockup, fit and finish was just about perfect.

So, if you love Spydercos, and you like a good custom knife, here you can almost have both.

Heres a pic i grabbed off Ebay, this is not my knife or auction, so please dont inquire. :)

Guns and Knives
In Sunrise? With large wooden soldiers on guard outside the door? Now I'm nostalgic. That store is one of the things I miss about living in Florida. They seem to get some unique knives. It is where I got my mirror finished Al Mar Hawk Ultralight. I always found them to be a friendly bunch too.

Nice Spydie. I sort of hope they continue with the fancy knives. It would be nice to have a different blade. Delta-Z does this very well with their Osprey. They have two different price points and the knives are completely different materials and finish. They only thing in common is the shape.

Hi Pete. Yup, thats the place! Same wooden soldiers standing guard, its almost as if they dont ever move! :D Well, let me qualify that, they move a little bit more than Al Gore. :D

I like the store because it gives me the chance to handle new knives and see whats out there, but, their prices on knives are just too high to do much buying there, though i have bought several guns from them over the years, and lots of other related stuff too, but as for knives, i cant justify paying literally 50-100% over what i can get the same knife for online. Even so, i have bought a few knives there, bought my first Chris Reeve there as a matter of fact, so, overall, i dont feel too bad about "using" them to check out new stuff, since i have given them thousands of dollars over the last few years.

In fact, when i was there today, i finally got to see the Buck/Strider folder, a knife i was very curious about, honestly, i would have bought it right then and there if not for the fact that they wanted nearly $200 for it! I dont mind paying $20, $30, or maybe even $50 more to help support a B&M, but come on, not $80-$100 more, thats asking too much. But, like i said, they end up with my $ anyway for all kind of stuff, so i dont feel like i waste their time checking out the newer stuff, in fact, theyre the ONLY real knife shop anywhere near me, and that fact alone is enough for me to want to spend my $ there.

They also have a case with lots of nice customs, problem is, theyve been in the case so long, they ALL have been scratched to hell, dinged, etc, it is such a shame to see beautiful $2000+ customs in such sorry condition, almost makes me want to rescue a few. :)

I may be wrong, but those bolsters look like mokume not damascus to me. In any case, an absolutely gorgeous knife!

The MSRP is only $349, I have one on order from a dealer for $220 :D

I've been looking for an excuse to get a Gary Graily sheath, but haven't found the right knife. I guess this is that knife :D

Nice knife, if I'm not mistaken Spyderco offered a Worker in Damascus, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their first knife.

Almost got it right T. - the damascus Worker was produced as part of an Evolution set along with a plain edge regular Worker.

It was released in 1993, 12 years after the introduction of the Worker.

The "retirement" Worker has a plain edge VG10 blade with almite-coated aluminium scales.
