I have recently recieved a sixty dollar gift certificate for cheaper than dirt and I need help. I cannot decide if I should get a new Spyderco Endura to replace one that I lost several years ago, or a Muela stag handled bowie. If I got the Spydie it would be a user, and if I got the Muela it would sit on my bookshelf and look pretty. What do you guys think, should I get the pretty knife or the user knife? Here is a link to a picture of the Muela. I know that you all know what the Spydie looks like. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/...gid=&mscssid=G5PR9UPDTTD09M4N02SL5UK1T9W2BPB8

My intentions, when I first began my knife collecting, was to have some knives just for "display". I came to find out that I was more inclined to purchase a knife that I could/would actually use instead of it just sitting pretty on a mantle, display case, etc.. I find a greater joy in actually carrying/using any knife that I purchase and not just leaving it as a display at home or office.

This, of course, is just my preference. I would say, however, that you go for the Spydie. ;)

Good Luck

I vote for the Spydie.

Myself I'm not a huge fan of 'display case' knives. I find more joy in their usage rather than strictly just their aesthetics.

JMO but I think the Spydie is a more sensible choice.

Sorry for the poor grammar, spelling and humor in the subject line. I just couldn't resist. I say go with the Spydie. This is based partially on the fact that I'm nuts about Spyderco but also because I have an aversion to Bowies and to display knives in general.
