Yes!!!!! My Parks quenching oils just got here!!!!

Fun! I just got 5 gallons of K&G's high speed quenchant, which i have since found out is a shell product that is synthetic mixed with some sort of wax. I ht'd a 1095 blade and the hamon was lookin real nice and had more definition to the clay lines than my prior homebrewed quenchants. Seems a bit smokier than others, im guessing due to the wax....

I just hardened a blade of 1095 I'd coated with clay a couple weeks ago. I was waiting for the Parks #50 to get here. I think it worked pretty good. Won't know till I start polishing though. It sure was fast. Wow. Didn't take much longer than water to make the blade stop vibrating.
Like you said, this stuff smokes more than some stuff I've used, though not more than my old homemade concoction. I'll bet this is similar to what you got.
Hamons rule! Stainless drools! (Flame on) :D

You guys should also check out Don Fogg's forum, if you aren't already. Between the fancy schmancy quenching media, proper soak times for 1095, and if you apply some of the stuff they're doing over there (powdered abrasives, lapping oils and various soft backing material), you'll start to think you're as good as Tai Goo or Fogg himself with those CRAZY hamon. I was just getting into some of this when I took my hiatus, but this is the stuff I'll start to experiment with more when I get back to it. Fun, fun, fun!
