Feeling the need for some fresh air with the family. We hit a short hike into Elkhorn Campground on the Dosewalips River. The road has been washed out for years, but you can hike in about 3 miles and it is still intact. A little more natural though. Yes, I pocket carry my BATAC.;)
This was the road.

Glad you were able to get out for a hike with the Family.
That river looks real nice for fishing.

Thanks for sharing

Fun day trying to feel more healthy. The BATAC is my constant companion on these daytrips.

I keep hoping they'll begin construction soon on the road replacement to improve access to the higher trailheads but I'm always struck by the great dayhike along the river and find myself with mixed feelings whenever I visit. Thanks for posting, looks like all had fun.

I hear ya! I have very mixed feelings about it. The road up there is in better shape now than ever before. Lot's of horses and bikers enjoying it and the old road serves as a great/wide trail.

Thanks for posting the pics of what appears to have been a fine outing for all y'all. I see in the picture you posted that the "Western Washington Moss Monster" was out that day lookin' to consume a couple o' young 'uns. ;) :D

There are so few people (by comparison to town) that the moss has covered everything. Including boulders that used to be stripped from climbers. It is quite beautiful. I didn't get any use in with the BATAC except the sense of security I have in carrying it.

That sure looks like a wonderful place to spend some time especially with family. Thanks for sharing.

BTW, Thank you for the kind comments. I love to share this great area with family and friends.

Nice. I keep meaning to take the family over to the Rain forest on the west side. My wife and kids have never been.
