A productive weekend. Lots of things got cut.
I don't own a lawnmower, but I do have a scythe I'm slowly working my way around the yard, basically making hay, it's fun.
Worked on deer fencing with my current EDC folder, value spydie persistance, not bad.
Put goats out behind the house. Some will be bred some will be eaten.
Took a break and shot things. Buck shot baby.
Spent the afternoon clearing small saplings and vines with king. The blade performed magnificently even till the end. After the activities I attempted to cut kindergarten paper, it's about as thin as phonebook paper, the blade could not curl it.
So I got out the sharpening stuff I keep in my EDC bag. DMT duofold and EZlap medium diamond rod. The rod is quite course, so I ran it over the edge first, then followed by DMT blue(course) then finished on red. Probably worked the red (kind of like you would file an axe) for about 10 minutes.
Easily curled the paper and shaved my leg hair. I then chopped through a 2x4, then checked my leg hair again, popped off like it should, so I would assume no wire edge bur.
The interesting thing about all this to me is that the edge is so far from being polished it's not even funny, in addition it actually looks like hell if you look close and all, and not totally uniform because I like to freeball, but it's still quite sharp I would say - popping hair, slicing paper. Another interesting thought is that it was actually cutting small trees quite well before I even did this.
Happy Memorial Day!
