Just wanted to share some good news with you good people here in the Kershaw forum.
My oldest son, Nick was playing around with my ZT 0561 and laid his finger wide open!

Why is this good news you ask? Well, I'll tell you why. Nick is 19 and his whole life we have never shared any common interests.

When I jokingly asked him what he was doing messing with my knife, he replied "this thing is just so cool I can't put it down".

Very soon Kershawguy will get a payment notification from me as I will be buying him his own ZT.

Peace to everyone here and thank you for letting me share.

Tough love (:

hahaha sorry to laugh at your sons misfortune, but I see what you mean and stevieman's post cracked me up! It's the little thing that can bring you together. I hope he gets er all stitched up and you two have a good laugh over it down the line. Good on you for seeing this as a father son moment!

My son was all excited this christmas because I got him a new knife (not a Kershaw but it was his choice) He was so exstatic that he decided he wanted to cut all his lego boxes and everything else open. Doesn't he come up and quietly try to tell me he cut himself. Well mom heard this and turned it into super over protection mode and proceeded to rip me a new one. I didn't much care, because I knew he was just fine, he was not in any pain, he finally cut himself on his own knife, he learned that you have to have respect and skills for and with your tools, plus we all know you have never really owned a knife until you cut yourself. He and I both were laughing a little which was not good for mom, but she'll get over it, it was a father son moment. He was more scared of her taking away his prized possession than he was of having a little cut on his hand!

My youngest son cut his finger on his 11th birthday.
He used my Adamas to cut his cookie cake and ran his fingertip right down the blade when he was washing it.
My wife is still mad about that one but Gus shows off his scar at least once a week.
I agree with juju, it's a painful yet harmless lesson in responsibility and also a right of passage.

Great story on many levels. I think it's great that you and your son had a bonding moment, and that he's now on his way to sharing your love of knives.
