WE keep bees, and they swarmed two times this spring already.. guess we are too laxed on expanding their hive and helping divide the queens.. I'd still avoid them, sting mode or not, you should use a mask and smoke at least...
Ours created a TOWER about 60ft tall by 15ft in diameter then moved about 50 ft to the west and we lost track of them up in a huge doug fir...
Our hive still is in operation so we were lucky the swarm didn't kill the old queen, which apparently happens often..
And $90 bucks or not, you then have to find someone who wants them, or but/build all the boxes and frames.. not just simply grab and cash

Sure it is! Put it on Craigs list! I've done it before when my hives swarm. I'm smashing queen cells tomorrow, but I fear I'm in the same boat and have missed a few swarms, despite the swarm lures I put out.
