Connie was off work yesterday, and we both needed a bit of time away from everything, so we took a little roadtrip. We ended up in Watseka, about 70 miles from home, and checked out some shops. We found a small resale / junk shop, and came across this, a USA made Colonial Barlow with fake scrimshaw of a fish on it. Price was marked $2.99, so I got it.

After that we came home up Rte 1, and stopped at an antique shop in Manteno, where Connie spotted this box in a case full of junk knives.

Inside was a nice, unused Buck 525 with a wild turkey on it. Price was $7, so I got it too. All in all, a nice day out!

wow. very cool john. i love hearing about these types of finds. and, i love even more seeing these treasures! ;)

That's a good score. Nice to get older knives still in the blister pack

Treasure hunting is always fun. Treasure finding is perfect.

Yes it is! I take some warped pride in trying to find unusual ones without using that auction site. Someday I will find that elusive Buck I`ve been hunting for!

Like that Buck! I haven't seen one like that before. I've got a couple turkey themed knives I've picked up too.

It is fun stopping at antique and consignment shops, you just never know what you'll find. Nice scores.

Nice scores John,I like the Buck in a box.Wish I could find great deals like those around here, guess I'l have to get out & look more.

Haha! I'm always picking up el cheap knives too! Even though I've got a ton of nice ones I always seem to pick up strays!:D

Whenever I find them the have broken tips or are seriously abused. The broken tips I don't mind. Some of my favorites have broken tips.
