Yes, I did search, but I didn't find anything that specifically answers this question. I don't want to argue the merits, or lack thereof, of 420J2, I just noticed something the other night that got me to wondering. A.G. Russell's steel guide (and an online article I ran across) lists this steel as .15 carbon, while several other sites (such as a couple of steel manufacturers and Buck's site) list it as anywhere from .30-.45 carbon. Which is it?

The 0.15 is a minimum the steel has to meet for this classification. More can be added without having to change the name.

Ah! Okay, that clears things up a bit. Thanks. I wonder what the content is in CRKT's J2 blades? I have a couple, which is what got me to looking at J2's stats in the first place.

Oh, crimony...and I was looking at their site the other day. My intellect seems to be slipping as the years progress.:o Thank you much for the link, Cliff.
