Yet Another Case of Porch Generosity

As is quite often, we read many instances of generosity between members of the Porch here. This is but another instance of that generosity. This time all the way from Finland! Our good friend of the Porch, Will Power reached out to me with a desire to send me something. Yesterday I received a beautiful barehead Antique Yellow Jig Bone GEC #15 along with a couple of coins. What a beauty Will. For me this knife is just perfect!
But more important than the exchange of knives between members here are the friendships formed over time. Friendships that morph into "family". Friendships to last a lifetime. For me, the bonds made here have been unbelievable and the most treasured gift of all. The knives are really secondary, but serve as a concrete reminder that the friendships formed here are real, honest, and forever. To me, it embodies the spirit of what this place means.
Thank you my friend Will.:thumbsup:

Exactly Bob, it happens again and again, the generosity never fails to move me and the friendships that evolve from a common love of traditional knives into long term friendships and a family like atmosphere that endures the ages. Most folks here know each other by name, most who hang out here know whose family members are graduating, gettin' married or in need of some smoke and prayers for whatever reason. My point is most here in the traditional forums who consider themselves to be part of the porch community are more traditionally minded people with a more laid back respectful attitude.

I was gifted a SAK faux white Scientist by (Jack) yablanowitz a couple of weeks ago and I've been carryin' that on and off in my truck change tray swappin' it out with my Alox Farmer. It's a wonderful part of the forum where people are still kind, stop in to say hello, show each other what they're carryin', swap a few knives and maybe tall tales to go with them. :)

We salute you. :)

Bob, Ted, thanks for sharing your storys. Will, Jack, thanks for the generosity and kindness you've shown. All four of you are true gentlemen and it is so good to hear of your antics :)... especially in the times we live.

Very nice and generous gift Will. Bob you are a great friend to many of us here on this little corner of the internet and it puts a big ole smile on my face to see you are the recipient of such a fine and gracious gift.

Bob, just returned home after a long day, not too bad as they go but tiring. Very glad it got to you quite quickly and that you like it. Certain people here have given me knives and regards unsolicited, I've held some GAWs and been very fortunate to win some too and what I like is that people give because they want to, not because of some agenda or squalid greed. It is also gratifying that people do this from a common interest and mutual regard - collecting can bring out the worst in some people: pettiness, envy and sarcasm. Not here, something for us all to be proud of. The more so because we all come from different walks of life, different countries and points of view - seems to me that Traditional Knives are a force for civilization and high ideals :D:D Something often lacking in our current busy world.

Regards to all, Will

I'll never get tired of hearing about examples of Porch generosity! What a wonderful gift, Will, and to a very deserving recipient! :)

Great knife and two Great Characters indeed!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Reading the threads of this forum is another way to travel and when sometimes (quite often in fact) knives do travel they enlarge our dreams. :):):)

Will, the knife you chose is beautiful in its simplicity, great choice.

Bob, nice picture and thanks for sharing.
