I have had this Ka-Bar for many years (since I was a young'un) and can still remember cleaning sunfish with it. I am unsure of it's age but it was not new when I received it from my father in the 60's. I haven't seen many of them around. The hook sharpener worked well and the knife is still sharp and snaps open and closed with authority. The cap lifter was also nice as the Ginger Beer I drank back then didn't have twist off tops!

Oh man, Those were the ubiquitous "fishing knife" when I was a kid. Every knife board display in the hardware stores had a yella handle fishing knife on them someplace. Your dad most likely got it from his dad. They ranged from the 1.99 Imperial's that were so-so, to the Case and Ka-bar's that were the higher class knife.

Good knife, lots of old memories in that one. Use it with pleasure.

That's a great knife. Closest I come to it is the Case version that I got in 1975 while working at Abercrombie & Fitch (with their logo on one side of the scales). Still have it though the hook sharpener fell off some years ago. I used to have it but lost track of it in my move here a few years back.

Congrats on a fine knife with a great pedigree.

a fine knife, i'm sure it would still perform flawlessly as it did when you used it those many years ago...
