Hello!

After being fortunate enough to get Don to build one of his amazing Big Tacs for me, I was able to pick it up some time ago. Since getting it into the studio took me a while, here it finally is, if only with a slight delay... ;)

Initially we were thinking about black-lip MOP, but turned to stag (probably my most favourite handle material) in the end - and what a great decision that was. The pieces of stag Don used are wonderfully popcorny (is that a word?!?) and just the way I like stag to look! The rest of the Big Tac also WOWs me big time. :D

Without further ado, here is a first shot from the studio session:

Thanks again for making this project happen, Don! It was fun and the result is more than I would have wished for!

UPDATE: added some views of the opposite side furher down

Best regards,
Alex

Wow!!!!

That's the first Big Tac I've seen in stag, and some fine stag at that. Outstanding acquisition!

Congratulations.

Seth

Beauty! Love this design and this example. The "popcorny" stag is great to look at and functional. Really like the 2 skulls on the bolster keeping an eye on things.

That is simply amazing sir! I absolutely love the looks of this. The stag makes it REALLY POP too! I do have concerns about the tang of the blade when closed though. It looks at though it would be sharp when ridding in pocket. Regardless it's sure is a beauty.

It's too large to ride in a pocket! :D

Man that is awesome a really great choice with the stag and your photo is great

Alex,

Great score one of my favorites in this style from Don.

Don,

I agree with you about riding in your pocket. I think it should be carried loud and proud. (Maybe even with it's own theme song). There should be music planning in the background as you look at it.

What a fantastic piece. A real treat for the eyes.

What are the dimensions? I bet I could pocket that beauty!

Hello!

Thanks again, Don! It's been my pleasure! :)

Thanks for looking in and commenting, guys! This is one wonderful knife for sure!

Seth - to my knowledge, this was the very first Big Tac in stag.

I would rather carry it in a beautiful lether sheth instead of inside my pocket, btw.

Here is one composition of quick snaps of the opposite side of the knife:

I first saw a Hanson big tac at the Chicago show many moons ago. They are just as cool now as they were then. Well done by both maker and photographer.

That knife is amazing!! Congrats on getting it and kudos to Don for knocking it out of the park once again!
