Yet another Police sighting.

I just got done watching the flick Training Day. Not a bad movie. Certainly entertaining. In the film, Denzel Washington's character has a full SS Police model. This knife shows up quite a bit in movies. Dare I say more than any other one particular model of any knifemaker?

This knife definitely has a very photogenic quality to it. It has got to be one of the most intimidating and respected tactical folders of all time.

How many of you guys have SS Police models, and how do you like them for general cutting? I would like to get one in the full serrated or combo-edge with the VG-10 blade.
 
I was gonna post a screen shot from the movie with Denzel using the Police closeup, but decided against it.

For those who haven't seen it, Denzel first uses it to threaten a crack-head who has just attempted to rape a school girl. The screen shot shows the bloody faced criminal cowering in fear from the shiny, fully-serrated blade. Not exactly something Spyderco would put in one of their print-ads.
 
i agree, saw it tonite, previously had only seen it on a hotel pay-per-view, and i guess the reception wasnt so great

Sweet! I tried renting it yesterday but it was all rented out already! I'm going to try to get it today!
 
Happened to catch a tv run of the movie, "The Client", where the bad guy was using an SS Police with engraved scales. Gad, that is a nasty looking knife in that context! But I like my SS Police.
 
There is a SS Police in this movie also.

If you haven't seen fight club , get up and go rent it right now!

Agreed! I've got in on DVD. That's another use of the Police model I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of!
 
ive seen fight club like 5 times and ive never seen the police in it, im guessin its where they go to seperate his "berries" from his "twig", am i right?
 
One of the cops pulls it for the purpose you mention when he goes to confess to them. It's where he gets the gun: he grabs it from one of them to escape. "Anyone that comes out after me gets a lead salad!"
 
The SS Police is also seen in Jennifer Eight where a psychotic cop threatens a "blind" Uma Thurman with it.

The Police model (esp. the SS version) seems commonly used in movies and comes off looking good onscreen, although it's almost always used to terrorize someone, unfortunately.

saw a guy on 'trucks' a show aimed at mechanics/truck enthusiasts on TNN, open a box w/a spydie G10 native today..........

also, i LOVED training day, daenzel should get an oscar for it imho, a cool movie imho

I'm just wondering why sal hasn't gotten an Oscar for these movies????? If it wasn't for his knives, these films would suck!!!!!:rolleyes: :eek:
 
and daenzel did get the oscar good for him, and my sweetie halle got one too...............she is a HOTTIE for sure......check her out in swordfish, another good movie imho, and boy, she looks GOOD w/a capitol "G"

It was a 1991 film about a photographer (Peter Coyote) who learns knife fighting to revenge a murder of one of his models. I believe it the first sighting I evr had of a police model.
