It arrived today, a 12" Sirupati by Sher that's pure sweetness. The blade is noticeably thinner than my first 12" Siru, made by his brother Kumar, and, due to the narrowness of the blade ,the edge bevels aren't almost convex, they're fully convex. This thing cuts proper! The handle has a slight downward curve and the butt is canted back just enough that the upper point doesn't doesn't dig at all. Did I say sweet? Let me say it again, sweeeeeet! The icing on the cake was the karda and chakma, I've never seen nicer for form or finish. Either one of the kamis had some time on his hands, or there's an apprentice at Bir Ghorka showing much promise.
Bura will always be the master to my mind, but Sher is well deserving of credit and recognition for his work. Ain't got a khukuri by Sher yet? What'cha waiting for?
