I'd like to share some of the pictures I took at the BLADE Show in Atlanta. Sorry about the delay, I just got home to Florida via Tennessee and Kentucky.
Let me start off by saying that the Emerson crew were outstanding. Absolutely the nicest folks you'd ever want to meet. Many, many thanks for your hospitality and kindness. One big thrill for me was to get a picture with Ernie, Mary, Derrick and Shawn. I quickly snapped pictures of "The Display". There was everything from full blown MOP dressers to customs to hand ground (Specwar marked) "Custom Production" Damascus knives to "First Run"Police Utilities to "Not for Sale" Prototypes for the new "Special Operations Combat Folding Knife" .
Ernie, Mary, Derrick and Shawn answered any and all questions with absolute candor. Again, awesome folks.
I ran into Patrick York and "Biginboca" (Al) over at the Microtech booth. Both I know from Bladeforums, but had never met. I played with both versions of the new LCC. The second day I was able to met and talk with Greg Lightfoot about the LCC. I got a picture of him with the MT LCC Prototype auto. When we reviewed the picture on the digital camera, Al pointed out that Greg wasn't a big "Smiler". "What are you talking about . . . I smiled!" Greg replied. Al and I just nodded to each other . . . "He's Canadian"
Al also pointed out a new design that MT is working on, the Amphibian. Very impressive.
The entire show was a knife overload. Here is a brief description of other things that caught my eye. I have a pretty good stock of pictures. If it caught my eye, I took a picture. If your looking for anything in particular, just ask, I'll see what I have.
Columbia River Knife and Tool had several Prototypes in their case. On looked like a Brian Tighe design, another was a Steve Ryan collaboration. They will also soon be releasing a couple of new versions of the M16 series that has coated blades and the "1*" logo.
MOD had nice Damascus versions of the CQD, as well as a 3/4 size version of the CQD. They did away with the line cutter and replaced it with a low profile window punch. Very nice. They also had a small skeletonized neck knife that is about six inches long.
I was most impressed with Tom Anderson's work. Beautiful, clean folders. Plain and simple. They were without a doubt the smoothest folders I tried at the show. I attached several pictures from his table.
Overall, the show was a winner. Ninty-nine percent of the people I met were great, but there's usually one or two in the bunch that tend to stick out. If you didn't make it this year, make sure your there next year . . . . I will be.
Pictures, enjoy.
See ya'll next year
