Bought a Taurus 24/7 Pro in 9mm... It was an impulse buy and dont really know much about this gun. I did a search and only came up with a few threads, so I figured I would ask if anyone has some comments on this gun.

Likes so far:
1. The grip is great.

2. The balance seems very good.

3. Disassembly is easy.

4. 17+1 rounds.

5. Lifetime waranty.

6. Like the DA on a misfire.

I will be headed to the range tomorrow with 150 rounds. I will let you guys know how it goes.

But if you have one and would like to leave some comments feel free.

Thanks,
Billyp

Haven't personally got to try one, but its a gun that I've been interrested in. There is, or at least there was a fair amount of talk about them over in the auto section of www.thehighroad.org . Most folks seemed to be fairly impressed with the gun, got some good reviews, and surprised a lot of people who thought that taurus had a bad reputation.
I have a taurus PT92 and have been very happy with it, wouldn't think twice about buying another taurus.

its their latest creation to compete with a pistol that they or anybody else will not be able to compete with; glock 17.

These 3 make it sound like an excellent choice:
1. The grip is great.
2. The balance seems very good.
5. Lifetime waranty.
:)

Hasn't the 24/7 been around for a few years??

24/7 has been around for awhile. They recently upgraded the design to the 24/7 pro. Guess it now offers DA/SA so that you have 2nd strike capability on failure to fires.

Not just his opinion.:D

I'll third that. :)

My concern with the 24/7 is the "ribber" grips. I would think those grips would wear badly, chunks would tear out over time under heavy use. Rubber does not seem like a long-term material to me. Maybe this is just my prejudice. I have no problem with FRN guns, I have several of those, but the rubber overmolding strikes me as cheap. Does anyone have any long-term experience with "ribber" grips?

I have the Taurus 24/7 Pro in .40 with blued slide and I like the gun a lot. It fits my hand perfectly. I am not wild about the long trigger pull though. It takes some getting used to and affects accuracy while you get accustomed to the trigger stacking.

Well I took it to the range today and ran 200 rounds through her. 1st clip in 1st bullet and I had a jam; hopefully this was a miss-feed cause by the new mag's. No other problems feeding after that. I was shooting some cheep monarch bullets though.

The rubber grip was nice, but may be a little "squishy". Under pressure I think my hand "walks around" the grip and I don’t have as controlled and steady hand as I could. This will probably pass with more use, but it was a little weird.

The groups I could produce were pretty consistent, about 6"-7" at 10 yd with a stray shot every now and again. No to bad for the 1st time out with this gun, and I'm sure that will improve with practice.

As everyone said, the trigger pull is SUPER LONG. This will probably take more getting use to than anything, it is smooth, but wow it is an eternity before it goes bang.

After I was done at the range I was trying to use the lock feature on the gun to put it back in the case and the darn thing wouldn't work. I figured it was just gunked up and made sure it was unloaded and the safe was on and home we went. I got home and cleaned everything oiled everything up and put her back together...the lock still doesn't work. I hate that I have not had this gun but one day and I have a problem with it already. I hope this is not a trend. Don’t get me wrong, today with the gun went well, and this malfunction is not that big of a deal, but if something this simple has problems with no provocation what might happen to the parts that actually receive some wear.

Last but not least.

Wow 17 round mags can help you run through some ammo...fast.

YMMV on this thing and I really have not formed a solid opinion yet, it is looking good, but a few more trips to the range and I will know for sure.

Thanks,
Billyp

5th, hard to beat a glock, hard to beat them for anything, hunting, target shooting, combat stuff, EDC, military, police, plinking, certainly one of the better pistols in existance right now in the 21st century imho.

one of the reasons i like glocks so is that they never, and i mean never malfunction, at least with good ammo, i have shot my 4 glocks (19,26,32C,33)
literally thousands of times with exactly zero malfunctions.

accuracy isnt bad either.

only con is they are kinda bulky, and the smaller ones like the 26/27/33 conceal very well.

locks on guns are a bad idea. its a lot like having locks on your brakes.i know price point may be an issue,so look into getting a used 17! even the ones that look beat to crap still have most of their lives ahead of them!
