Hey man. I am from Muncie Indiana but I have family in Champaign/Urbana. Do you go to U of Ill. at Champaign Urbana? I visited Beckman Institute a couple of years ago, and the campus seemed pretty cool. Champaign surplus is pretty expensive, although I bought some BDUs and some fruit leather there once. Definitely check out Cold Steel folders if you can find any, then order from Botach.com. You can get a Gunsite (1/2 serrated reinforced tanto point) with a five inch blade. Strongest lock on the mrket, pierces car doors w/ no damage to blade, cuts 2 inches free hanging rope, and all for fifty bucks. Smaller version for 40 something. Trust me man.

????? I still dont understand what you were getting at with your title???

ANYWAY welcome to the forums!!!!

I hope ya like it here.....

Not if you think that is the strongest lock available. Man.

Mickey unless you got the memo from the last squeegee meeting the post title makes no sense at all....

SCOOBY-CHANG WHERE ARE YOU?

Strongest Lock on the market?!
Dude, that lock only holds a static weight of 125-135 lbs. I could defeat that thing with only half of my weight on it. WHOA! I gotta go on a diet!

You want strong, you gotta go to the REKAT's or the BM Pinnacle or the Sebenza or the Axis or the higher end Spyderco's.

Oh hey. Yeah it's me, the Asian Window Squeegee (or Asian Janitorial Apparatus). I go to University High School sponsored the by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I'll probably be going to the U of I for college to. Man, I really bruised my SWAT knife up, the metal scratches really easily. I'll look into it, but I'm broke now

Sheesh! Excuse me for being naieve, oh great and powerful Senior member. Well, even if the Gunsite isn't the strongest lock on the market, it IS really solid. And with the price range Chang was talking about, you will not find anything stronger. Besides that, In MY market (Indiana) it is the strongest. We don't get any exotic knives around here, and I am not willing to pay $150 for a BM. I'm in high school and I have enough trouble just getting my "inferior" Cold Steel gear.

Sorry to jump down your throught, because other knives can hold more weight than a Gunsite, but you have to realize that a lot of us can't afford customs of high-end production knives. IMO, the Gunsite is still best bang fo the buck in a combat folder.

Stilleto Raggio,
FYI, Senior Member "status" means nothing! It means you've got a computer with 'net access, time to kill and a lot to say about knives and nothing more.
If the Cold Steel Gunsite is all you can afford right now, fine. I have one, too, and it is a good knife for the price.
It is plenty strong for everyday uses and will probably save your bacon in a pinch, just be aware that there are stronger locking systems to be had out there.
Your fortunate in a way as I believe that this year is gonna be the year of the moderately priced super folders.
Stronger locks, better steels, custom designs all at modest prices. A great time to be a knife nut. Enjoy!

You can get a spyderco delica from northwest cutlery (online) for about $40. I think I remember seeing that its lock held a static weight of more than 125lbs too. You want bigger- get an endura, same site about $50. You can get a good knife without buying a custom, and without going broke.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

I can't afford high end production knives either, Stiletto Raggio

. You aren't alone in being a High School student. You are actually probably better off than me, because I skipped a grade and started kindergarten early and so I'm a High School Junior and I'm fifteen, which of course means no credit card, checking account, car, job, etc. I spend a lot of time playing with higher end sorts of knives, none of them belong to me of course.

I'm stuck with my SWAT for another 5 months while I save up money for a Cold Steel or something.

Here we go again ... I should write a macro ... just about any knife made can pierce a car door, including folders selling for less than $5.

Advertising "THIS KNIFE IS SO SHARP IT CAN CUT BUTTER!!!" won't sell knives because everybody has tried cutting butter and we all know any knife can do it. Most people have never tried piercing a car door....

Cougar, you slay me man.... ROTFLMAO!!! Bwaahhhhahahaha!!

But, all the same, that Gunsite folder seems to be a good knife. There are always better, but good, is good enough.

Hey Stilleto and Chang,
Don't worry about the knives you guys have now. Study hard in school, and then later on you'll be able to get any knives you want. Along with whatever else.

I wish I had had a Gunsite folder when I was in high school.

Misque,
Some folks here, it seems, have a lot of time to kill...

Chang,
just had to read this post because the topic sounded strange . . . I initially thought that your tag line "Asian window squeegee/janitorial apparatus" was a subtle way of referring to an Chinese edged weapon that I hadn't yet heard of!
