I know this forum is populated with mostly Scotch and Bourbon drinkers when it come to liquor but have you ever tried the fine aged Rums available? I've been on a kick for a couple of years since I found a few nice ones while on vacation in Florida. This Appleton Estate, 12 years old, is a nice one but if you look around there are some even better than this. This was all my local package store had tonight so I will enjoy it while cruising the net. Have any of you other Hogs explored the aged Rum phenomenon?

Sorry that Rat got in the pic but I do have a Bear Cub hanging around my neck.

Bristol Pyrate, baby:D It's some good stuff! I've really been on a spiced rum kick lately, though. Sailor Jerry mostly, but I picked up some blended black spiced rum called Kraken that was pretty good, too. Not so much strait, but a perfect mixer.

cruzan single barrel & mt gay extra old are the best ive ever had!!
great neat or with coke,,,gotta try some....

I am 50 yards from the Bacardi HQ in Hamilton, Bermuda right now. Was thinking about knocking on the door and asking for some 151...

All of you have a shot for me.
All I can do now is just smell it. :o

Appleton Estate is good stuff. I particularly like the 21. Sailor Jerry is good stuff, too.

I think that I'm into aging my own. I got a bottle of Bacardi Select from '96 still unopened. :o:D

Yeah!

A freind of mine refers to that as special olympics in a bottle.

I am fond of the Sailor Jerry. I especially like the secret pin up girls on the backs of the label on the handles.

Appleton is good stuff too. I was drinkin' that for spiced rum before I found the Sailor Jerry.

Nice bottle there... I've had the same one and now there's just one drink left.:( Appleton makes some fine rum, that's for sure. For example their Gold Rum is good for mixing - especially with cola & lime or in Planter's Punch).
Btw. it was rum which brought me to drinking :) and later I started to appreciate bourbon and whiskey but rum will always be my first love...
And that reminds me one question: Is there allowed Cuban rum in the US? Because Havana Club (not Bacardi's) is my everyday choice and Varadero is very tasty one too and it would be a pity not having an opportunity to try it...
Nazdraví!

That's alcohol abuse at it's worst:thumbdn: Better spilled than left to die of old age:mad::foot::D

Interesting thread!

Here's some pics of Rums I enjoyed over the last year or so:

My preference (so far) is the Santa Theresa 1796. I really liked the Angostura 1919, and I'm a big fan of the Appleton Extra 12. I even prefer the 12 over the Master Blender Legacy

I started a Rum thread in the Community forum a while ago...I'll see if I can dig it up.

Here it is.
