Hey folks,

Been thinking about picking up a Yojimbo 2 for a while, but I worry I wouldnt carry it enough for the $. I already have a waved Matriarch I carry when I'm in a sketchy area, and dont know if i really need another self defense blade.

But, for those who have one, does it make for a fun/useful carry outside of the SD uses? It looks so badass and seems like it would be a killer slicer.

Do you find yourself carrying yours more or less than expected?

It's a very handy EDC blade, essentially a box cutter on steroids. Wharncliffes are super handy for office EDC. I had one that was a bit rough and got rid of it a few years back, but I recently felt the hankering again and my new one is the smoothest Spydie I own. Drops free when you release the compression lock and the detent is dialed in for endless flicking. Definitely taking up a chunk of my carry rotation.

The Yojimbo 2 is a member of my small edc rotation. Don't let the self defense aspect of it deter you from getting it. It cuts like a dream, carries light, the straight edge is a breeze to maintain, and has the compression lock - need I say more?

The Yojimbo 2 is part of my EDC rotation. The blade shape is great for most tasks. And it comes crazy sharp out of the box. I have 0 regrets buying mine, and love carrying it. It's an incredibly useful knife. I'd definitely recommend it.

I don't carry knives for self defense, but I carry a Yojimbo often. Great EDC blade.

I have three Yo 2s in S90V and one in S30V, and EDC one most days. It is a great knife for many tasks EDC wise.

I love the look of the Yo2 as well. That wharncliff blade is all business. Cuts/slices at a top notch level. The pivot is ultra smooth and the compression lock locks up super secure and disengages with minimal effort. It's a fantastic EDC knife. It's a pretty light weight carry and the size is ideal for front pocket or back pocket IMO. I highly recommend it.

I carry mine often. SD aside, it's a great all around knife for just plain cutting stuff.

Thanks, guys!

The reason why I ask is that I feel like the Matriarch isn't really useful as a EDC because of the full serration + Blade shape. Unless your job involves cutting netting all day (which, by god, this thing is AMAZING at slicing through a bag of avocados!), it's pretty much a non-starter. I still like my waved Matriarch, but I kind of resent having a knife that can't handle multiple tasks. I'm glad to hear it works as an EDC for so many! I was a little worried about the fragile tip, tbh. I don't use my knifes for prying, though, so I'm not too worried.

I'm in love with the blade shape and the compression lock, so it's only a matter of time before it finds its way into my mailbox. I've checked all the major retailers for a coarse G-10 version, and no one's got any in stock, so I suppose I'll just have to get a regular one (unless a peel-ply CF version shows up on the exchange).

I have the lill matriarch and it works well as an EDC but the full size matriarch is a different story.

Excellent EDC blade IMO!! The handle shape just melts into my hand perfectly......and it is one of my very best slicers!!
Awesome all around utility blade........and doesn't it just look cool??

You can get a Yojimbo 2 for $122 if you look around. It is a fantastic knife at that price point.

I would not cry if it were the only knife I had for the rest of my life...

The knife is also a suburb example of design/philosophy accurately manifested into reality. Janich and Spyderco nailed it!

I also have the fixed blade version called the Ronin 2. It is everything I need in a FB.
