I bought this knife off a reputable eBay seller back in November. The knife was mediocre in terms of smoothness and was definitely a deviation from what I'm used to from Spyderco however I loved the knife so much I kept it without examining the internals. Well, today I discovered that only one side of the pivot/tang has a phosphor bronze washer. Is this normal?

It looks like there are two on the one side. Either that or it is a reflection. Was it used? Maybe it wasn't reassembled correctly.

Hmm looks real to me. Could the washer be smaller on that side to the point where you just can't see it?

Also is there blade play? If it's not sliding side to side laterally on the pivot then something is keeping it from moving...on the other hand it should be smooth...how's the centering?

I'm pretty confident it's not a fake however I think it's possible seller sold me a knife that was previously used and probably disassembled at some point before being sold to me as new. There is no blade play and centering is perfect. Maybe the washer is smaller, maybe there is no washer, I can't truly tell without taking it apart. Going to have Spyderco take a look at it tomorrow

Are you sure there aren't two washers on that one side. I can see one washer on each side of mine but they do not appear to be as exposed as yours. That's another reason why I think it might be two.

It appears to have one but like I said, I'm not 100% sure and don't want to open it and run into any warranty issues. I examined and compared another Yojimbo 2 to mine at the outlet today and both phosphor bronze washers were plainly visible and looked just like the one side on mine. It is now with Spyderco. Hope to hear back from them soon.

Nice that you can just stop into the outlet. I'm sure they will sort it out for you. :)
