I added one to my cart for $229, but then during check out I just couldn't pull the trigger. For that price I can get two regular Yojimbos. I think this one is priced about $50 too high for my taste.

Are any of you guys going to get it?

I've been carrying mine exclusively for the last week and foresee that continuing for quite sometime. I love the carbon fiber on this one.

I must be living in the Stone Age, because I can't believe this knife retails for $229 plus shipping. A Sage 1 with S30V and carbon fiber costs $102 shipped. Yeah, this Yojimbo is a dealer exclusive. Does that make it more spendy? And its a couple of ounces of S90V instead of a couple of ounces of S30V. Yeah, compression lock, I get it. That's a liner lock's cousin. But they will find 800 buyers, and that proves that I have no idea what I'm talking about. :) Except that I'm not dropping $235 or whatever on this one.

I planned on getting one until the price was released. I thought it should of been priced the same as the Manix XL, if not less. I passed and will settle for the S30v Yojimbo 2.

Free shipping.

If it were $50 less, I probably would have bought one, but I'm not that moved by the Yojimbo design to need to buy a second in more fancy materials at that price. I did get one of the s90v Manix XLs, even though I also found that a little pricey.

All that said, it is probably still a better deal than the Benchmade 940-1 at $263, and I gather they have been selling well.

Not everyone has to think it's worth it, but the Sage 1 is G10/CF laminate, meaning there's a thin layer of CF on top of a G10 base. This one is solid peel-ply CF and I imagine that adds cost. Yes, the dealer mark-up on this one is probably more than the average spydie, but that's their prerogative given they had to pony up for this run in advance. Also, to be honest, if this was $150, they'd all be sold out right now and 50% of those would be on ebay for $200+, so I'm happy that at least the dealer is making that money.

For me, this one and the Manix XL were totally worth the cost. This is a gorgeous knife and I think classing up the Yo2 really works, like a velvet glove on the iron fist.

Does the Manix XL have nested liners? I don't own one but if not that could be a big part of the additional cost of the Yo2. Machining Carbon Fiber is not Cheap, especially to such tight tolerances.

Not sure any knife over a C-note is "worth" it, but I got one anyway. It's part of my hoarding nature, I love knives, inexpensive and expensive ones. This knife is still cheaper than what is being offered by other companies with the same materials.

you are not alone. The Yojombo does nothing for me, at any price. ;)

Yojimbo 2 in s90v is really well made and has amazing cutting performace. I admit I was not sure I would like it but after playing with for a few days it is definetely a keeper. if you have the cash go for it.

I had the same exact experience.....It's a very nice knife......

The reason for the relatively high price is not the additional manufacturing cost, it is that it is selling at close to 80% of the MSRP. If it were sold at the usual discount from MSRP, it would be about $50 cheaper.

That's the prerogative of the dealer in a dealer exclusive. Some would charge more. It they still sell well at that price, then expect to see similar pricing next time.

I had a dream about this knife last night . Never thought about buying one but apparently it has set itself into my consciousness :)

It was a fierce looking knife with really beautiful candy apple red scales made out of what appeared to be the Kraton that SOG uses on some of its knives. I really like Kraton for a knife handle and so I apparently designed my own Yo2. If one like it was available I would spend the $$s for sure.
