This mod was the brainchild of a forum member from a knife subreddit, who hit me up a few weeks ago about possibly tackling this Yo2 mod. I whooped up some ruff sketch ideas (see last pic in the album), and liked it so much that I copped a user Yo2 for myself to chop. Really amazed that I didn't grab one of these awesome knives earlier. Great blade shape and ergos. However, decided to slim her down to make a more pocket friendly version, plus wanted a less aggressive blade shape that would still capitalize on the awesome wharnie functionality. Not a tactical user, so decreasing the stabbing potential was not an issue for me.
1. First, the choil plan had to be scrapped (again, see last pic of the sketch), seemed to risky getting that close to where the stop pin engages. 2. Decided the original handle length is perfect for my hands, and decided against shortening it. 3. Ground down the blade spine and handle for a more pocket-friendly profile, plus straighter lines overall. 4. Contoured the scales. 5. Added a deep carry clip. 6. Wondered where this bad girl has been all my life!

That is a very attractive modification, well executed. I'm awaiting my Jazz-lica for all my wharnie cutting needs; I prefer FFG for my uses.

Most excellent mod!

I have tried to withstand the lure of the Yo2, as I have PPTs in spades and desperately try to tell myself, that the PPT and Yo2 covers approximately the same ground (yeah, who am I kidding, right!).

But recently there was a thread in GKD about a member, whose wife broke the tip of a Yo.
A wharncliff mod was suggested and the suggestions looked great.

Now this with well executed blade mod and beautiful scales....

Thats it, Im getting a Yo and will mod the heck out of it.

OP, I hate you! (not really)😆

Looks great! I love the Yo2. IT might just be Spyderco's most underrated blade. Now I'm going to cgo grab mine to carry today!

This looks like something digdug would have done.

Great work and clean lines!
I might kind of miss the thumb area on the spine.

Well done !
A tip of the hat to you sir.

Sent via telegraph with the same fingers I use to sip whiskey.

Looks good.

Although I think the grip is way to small already. So I'd only go for the choil myself.

Looks great! couple questions:

What tooling did you use for the mod?
Can you post a pic of the knife closed?
Are any of the barrel spacer screws rounded with the scale edge radius?

Again, it looks fantastic. I appreciate the modifications for the sake of carry-ability, with little detriment (enhancement, in fact) to usability. Nice work!

I envy your ability to do that mod and applaud anyone making a knife "their own" but that is not for me. I like those pointy, triangular wharnies and I'm pretty sure the Yojimbo was the first place I saw one.

Thanks man.
- Main tool was a belt grinder, also lots of hand sanding.
- Here's a pic of the knife closed:

- Nope, didn't have to round off the screws, just went carefully with the sanding.

I'm a big fan of the YO2 and love what you've done with it! It appears to be way more pocket friendly now...good job!

Wowwww. I've never been attracted to the Yojimbo 2 before, but that right there is an absolutely gorgeous blade. Tremendous job.
