Hey fellas,

I am brand spanking new here so my apologies if this is in the wrong thread, but I love to cook and figured this was the best place to post. I purchased a yoshihiro 9.5" aogami super blue for myself after receiving tons of giftcards for xmas, but have encountered some seriously concerning issues recently. I have had the blade for just over a month and the blade has started to split at the tip the last 2 weeks, almost as if the layers of steel are coming apart. This is not my first carbon steel and I am fastidious about wiping and cleaning after every use. I have never had an issue like this with any of my other blades.

Thanks

sounds like the cladding is delaminating. You should contact where you got it and possibly exchange it for another

That would sound like a defect in the steel, so you are getting corrosion between the layers. That corrosion will push them apart. Get it replaced.
