Hey Fellas!
I know there is a great amount of experience and knowledge here in the forum, so I'm asking for you input.

I have been researching the MT Mini Socom Elite (Auto). I have read some good reviews and bad ones. Most say that MT does not produce the quality knives that they once did. Some say that MT is good to go. I personnaly do not own a MT, but would like to. I have found little on the Mini Socom Elite Auto. Any input on this? Thanks in advance!

I have had a microtech mini socom, manual for about a year and a half,

It has seen a lot of daily use and is tight as a drum. Holds an edge well, zero blade play and the coating is still in decent shape.

I bought mine used, I personally, highly recommend this knife.

Hope this helps. :)

I don't know about the automatics but I have abused a manual MT tanto SOCOM for 9 years and am very happy with it, still locks up tight and takes a great edge. I have had a manual Mini SOCOM for about 2 years and it is one of my prefered knives when I don't want to scare anyone. I don't think you can go wrong with a MT manual.

I had a mini socom auto and it was great. Zero blade play.

i had a mini socom elite for a brief period and still own a mini socom, both manual. they're great knives, you wont be disappointed.

I think you will like the quality . I would recommend that you buy from a reputable dealer , like Bob at the bright edge . He knows the product well and will give good service and advice .

Microtech is a weird company. For many years, their knives were mostly unmatched by others. However, that being said, I think there was a slight slump in thier QC standards for a short while. I don't know exactly what was happening, but I think they were trying out some type of alternate manufacturing to bring the price down a bit. I don't mean over seas or anything, but some of the blade steels, like the CroMo steel, and other stuff, but I think they are back on track. I know that the original SOCOM's and minis are top notch, especially between 2000 and 2002. The first runs of Elites were great too. I had a chisle ground tanto with BC-1 coating (I was so stupid for selling that one). I would get the Elite Mini. If it is one of the bad ones, try looking again. They are great knives.

Ive got some old stuff (1999-2000) and some new stuff , it's all pretty good . If I had to defend myself with a folder , or carry one on a beat , I'd be very tempted by a Socom of some type .

Why not buy one used,

safequeens are as good as new. They do come up on the forum from time to time.

If you gotta have something right now, get a SAK(20.00 or less on epray) to hold you over.

Just a thought. ;)
