You ask a question? China a lot of friends like a knife feel good Spyderco Para-Military2. Lock, the lock of his best. He locked the back line lock. May I ask why this lock should only be used in the Spyderco Para-Military2? Such a good lock why not promote? Thank you.

The compression lock is patented and owned by Spyderco. They are the only ones with the rights to produce this lock. A lot of research and development goes into producing a lock of this caliber and quite frankly I wouldn't be interested in buying anybody elses version of one. Just like I wouldnt want an axis lock from anybody other than Benchmade.

All of the different lock types out there are more than adequate if you ask me, provided you buy from a reputable company/maker.

It is used on the Spyderco Superleaf and will be used on the upcoming Spyderco Szabofolder as well.

My poor English, Thank you for your understanding. I am asking is, why such a good lock only used in a model of the paramilitary. Why do spiders produced other new models do not use the lock.

Your friends have good taste. The compression lock as devised and manufactured by Spyderco is an excellent lock mechanism. For the record, Spyderco has offered the compression in more models than just the Para-military. You can also take a look at the Lil Temperance, Yojimbo, ATR, Salsa, S and Gunting for some other examples. I personally would like if Spyderco used the compression lock in more models, but there is a very brief learning curve associated with figuring out how to efficiently manipulate the lock. It's possible that Spyderco could lose some market share amongst the mass populous if it featured the compression lock on too many of the consumer models.

They do have a few, but I would like to see it on more knives from spyderco as well. It gets a lot of love here in the forum, im sure spyderco will have more offerings with it in the future. Any lock from spyderco will be well made and have the proper geometry for solid lock up and a good life span.

Buy what you like and what feels good in the hand. The rest is gravy :)

It has been use on several other models in the past and they are using it on the Superleaf now too. I agree with you that it should be used on more models but the back lock is very popular because it has been around for a long time and it has proven to work very well.

hope he's not scouting for a nickel and dime Chinese knife knockoff company

Bronco is being kind with his response to you. I'll say this. Someone from China asks a legitimate question and this is your response? I strongly advise you refrain from any more comments like this.

Dude with respect, give him a break. He's trying his best to speak English to us.
Yes, the Chinese are known for knock offs and piracy, but not all of us are like that or agree with it.

Google translator is such a pain sometimes:D
I can agree with that.
The problem with Chinese, when translated directly to English, the sentences often get jumbled

eg: Nay jo mut ye? (what are you doing?)
Directly translated word by word is, You do what thing?

again i apologize

No sweat, I didn't take any offense, was just letting you know.
Besides, I rip the chinese off more than my non-chinese friends and do it well, as I know my people :D (kind of like Russel Peters)

Thank SilentJohn brothers. Because of you, I feel the integrity of our American friends, I feel the greatness of America. Thank you, I will work hard to learn English.I see this forum to be translated, the translation is very hard, but I insist on learning every day, every day to read this forum, because I love this forum, I love you, I wish you all. Finally to add that I am opposed to the cottage knife. . .

Glad to see that we have a few knife nuts in China posting here. Welcome to Bladeforums, Xiecheng. Spyderco hasn't had the compression lock on the market very long & I'm guessing that they were waiting to see how well the public received it before using it in more models. It's had a great reception so I expect to see it slowly start to show up in more models. Also, The Para 2 is a Golden, Colorado Spyderco model & the other manufacturing facilities probably aren't set up to manufacture that lock. This limits the lock to Golden, CO models.
