I actually just learned about these a few weeks ago.

Sometimes, I do come out from under my rock.

Shot it yet?

I do wonder what it does to the long chamber/cylinder when you shoot .45s through it instead of the .410 shells.

We'll See . 2 1/2 .410 000 buck . Each Round Has 3 .38 cal Rounds .Thats 15 .38 rounds Comin' At Ya Live . Life Time Warranty , Just Like The Boss's Warranty ! Ultralite Great For Home ,Woods , And Truck . Can't Wait to Shoot It . Wanted To Get One While We Still Can .

Now there's something I've never seen before! Interesting...

That might be of interest to the folks over at W&SS, there was a thread a few days ago about .410

Very cool. Unfortunately, my recollection is that they are not legal here in Cali - otherwise I'd have one.

I have bought 2 of these for Jennifer. . . I bought the first one before they were called the Judge!!!

I think it's the ultimate handgun for home defense for those who have little ones or other family members spread throughout the home. . . No worries about it passing through walls. . .

Nice score!!!

Jerry :D

Cool score !

....and a hoot to shoot !

The 2 1/2 .410 in 000 buck is kind of a staple in the biker community round here, like you said 3 @ .38 heading out the business end.

Here's my measly 2 shot. ;) Though the picture shows a .410 x 2 1/2 slug and a .45 LC :D

Hey man, give us a range report when you shoot it. I have been looking at those for a while... I'd like to know the following:

1. How is the accuracy with the .45?
2. How does the 410 pattern?
3. What would you say is the maximum effective range for the .410?

Now get to work, man! The HOGS need to know!!! ;):D

My Brother has one, "Thunder Five". It's a fun shooting handgun. Not as much recoil as I thought it would be.

Great idea. Just don't carry it IWB or it'll poke out thru the bottom of your pants leg. LOL I've got 7 1/2" Colt Single Actions that are smaller than that. ;)

I'm not sure if no-wall-penetration would even closely = effective against badguys. I've seen too much at box-o-truth.com to be concerned. In fact, I've moved up my shotgun loads for home defense b/c of stuff seen there.

Good find, I've almost picked up one of those twice recently. It'll be a fun woods gun too.

Interesting stuff...

Birdshot as a Defense Load
I have had a lot of questions, summed up as follows: How effective is birdshot (#4, #6, #8, etc.) as a defense load?

We have done tests with various birdshot loads. Birdshot penetrated through two pieces of drywall (representing one wall) and was stopped in the paper on the front of the second wall. The problem with birdshot is that it does not penetrate enough to be effective as a defense round. Birdshot is designed to bring down little birds.

A policeman told of seeing a guy shot at close range with a load of 12 gauge birdshot, and was not even knocked down. He was still walking around when the EMTs got there. It was an ugly, shallow wound, but did not STOP the guy. And that is what we want... to STOP the bad guy from whatever he is doing. To do this, you must have a load that will reach the vitals of the bad guy. Birdshot will not do this.

In fact, tests have shown that even #4 Buckshot lacks the necessary penetration to reach the vital organs. Only 0 Buck, 00 Buck, and 000 Buck penetrate enough to reach the vital organs.

Unless you expect to be attacked by little birds, do not use birdshot. Use 00 Buck. It will do the job.

But doesn't 00 Buck penetrate too much in interior walls to be a "safe" load in a home?
Yes, it does penetrate a lot. But any load that is going to be effective will need to penetrate walls to have enough power to penetrate bad guys. If our only concern was to be sure we didn't penetrate walls, we would use BB guns. However, BB guns will not stop bad guys.

Therefore, we must use loads that will STOP bad guys, and this means that they will also penetrate walls. So, be sure you hit the bad guy and do not shoot into walls where loved ones are on the other side.

I would really like one of these Judge's They really look like a fun gun. Kick with the .410 should not be any worse than with full power .45 loads, and will be better than hot .45 loads. It is really a great idea. I think for hiking, first one or two shots .410, and three full power .45 to follow up, you would be ready for anything. That would probably make a great handgun for jumping jack rabbits (very close range of course).

Yep. You gotta be careful. I use low-recoil buck in mine now and be careful where I aim when those burglars come in. I get them 3-4 times a week. It's a bear to clean up the plaster and blood splatters, but I've yet to take out the fam doing it. LOL

This CAN be an effective home-defense gun, but EXPECT it to penetrate walls OR not penetrate badguys.

A friend had one and let me shoot it. I fired #7 or #8 birdshot and .45 long colt at @7-10 yards. Lots of fun and fairly accurate (.45LC). Fired @20 to 30 rounds fairly fast out of it. Wouldn't want to shoot 100, but probably could have done 50 without my hand being sore. I'm also curious as to the effective range and recoil of the 00/000 buck. If I bought one I'd have the cylinder machined to accept moon clips and use .45acp out of it, for "cheap" readily available ammo and as a carry gun:)
