You can't not have... a little something

Dear fellow Beckerheads and Becker enthousiasts...

After graduating back in July, and recently signing my first contract, I thought it was about time to reward myself.I already had a BK14, 24 and 16 but I had always wanted a blade that was up to more than these guys were. Not that I would be having the opportunity to be using a large blade every day. But, you know, it's good to have one. I looked at a 5, looked at a this and a that. Always liked the looks of the 9 too. Some people on the forums are encouraging the purchase of a 9 (:D) rather ferociously. Probably with reason. If I see what people throw at them, they must be great tools. So I went on the web to look around for one. Found some online European retailers, selling it for over 100 EURO (135+USD) without shipping. Found them on some US online retailers, but shipping was often over 40USD because of the weight. Finally, I saw them on a river bank for a really good price and free shipping within the US. I thought that if I could get it shipped within the US, the person I sent it too might be able to find a cheaper way of getting it to me (since online retailers also often make money off of shipping, I know.). So I went on the snark and asked. Granitestateofmind was kind enough to offer his help, and that was the start of a 9 coming my way. Bought it on the web, got sent to granite, he then sent it back to me. Everything went really smooth, and today I got a package in the mail.

A box!

What's in it? That's no longer a surprise, but here's a pic of the box inside the box.

Oh look, a 9! But uhm, what are those pieces of paracord and why did someone leave his mints in my package?

The Altoids tin also contains something...

So not only did granite help me out saving a few $$ (in fact, enough to get micarta handles for it, true story) in getting this 9 to me, he also added two lanyards to the package AND an altoids tin with firemaking supplies such as fatwood, fire straws and I suppose cotton balls? You sir, are AWESOME and far too kind...That pretty much made this 9 good to go.
Lanyard attached, tin in the front pouch of the sheath...

Very classy of you granite. Beckerheads will look out for each other. Oh, and you're going to love that nine.

It's great to see members helping members out. Awesome. Congrats on that 9. It is a beast!

Every time I un-sheath my 9 and hold it like you are in the pic, I feel like a Roman Centurion. Congrats on the newest member to your Becker family and kudos to "Granite" for making it happen.

It sure is, and I sure will. Thanks!

Everyone needs a BK9. You can't not have a 9.

Wow, pretty crazy that you said that 'cause that was EXACTLY what I was thinking when I first held it. "Damn, this could be a modern day Gladius".

Congrats on your first full sized Becker. I'm glad granite was able to get that beast to you. It's a knife that every Beckerhead must own at some point IMO. Hope you get to Chop & Baton sometime soon...

Thanks! I've already enjoyed fondling it :D. I'm planning on doing a 1vs1 between this 9 and my Swabbie. Curious about the outcome.

Hey, hey. At least I have hands, not paws :D

Classy for sure. Congrats on the new 9!

Thank you!

On a sidenote, this knife came REALLY sharp from the factory. Over a year and a half ago, my 14 didn't come crazy sharp, then my 16 and 24 were a LOT sharper out of the box and shaved armhair easily. This 9 maybe even tops that. Was pretty scary for a knife that came straight from the factory. Well done to the guys at Ka-Bar and Ethan.

Nice score! Good job helping out another Beckerhead granite!

Hey, those fire making supplies look familiar. LOL Those "cotton balls" are Coghlan's emergency fire tinder. It is basically cotton with wax. The are good for warm temps but firm up dang near solid in colder temps. They burn very well though.

Hah! I told him that tin was compliments of you, Dres. I had to take the little mini-Bic out, though. Liquid butane's hazmat. My girls still have theirs, though, for when it warms up a little. Check out page 22 of the snark thread, you'll see what I made them for Christmas. I think Trailbum would approve. We are gonna rock the one-stick next year!

This is a great thread. Nice to see how Beckerheads take care of each other.

Congrats on the 9!
