Dear fellow Beckerheads and Becker enthousiasts...
After graduating back in July, and recently signing my first contract, I thought it was about time to reward myself.I already had a BK14, 24 and 16 but I had always wanted a blade that was up to more than these guys were. Not that I would be having the opportunity to be using a large blade every day. But, you know, it's good to have one. I looked at a 5, looked at a this and a that. Always liked the looks of the 9 too. Some people on the forums are encouraging the purchase of a 9
D) rather ferociously. Probably with reason. If I see what people throw at them, they must be great tools. So I went on the web to look around for one. Found some online European retailers, selling it for over 100 EURO (135+USD) without shipping. Found them on some US online retailers, but shipping was often over 40USD because of the weight. Finally, I saw them on a river bank for a really good price and free shipping within the US. I thought that if I could get it shipped within the US, the person I sent it too might be able to find a cheaper way of getting it to me (since online retailers also often make money off of shipping, I know.). So I went on the snark and asked. Granitestateofmind was kind enough to offer his help, and that was the start of a 9 coming my way. Bought it on the web, got sent to granite, he then sent it back to me. Everything went really smooth, and today I got a package in the mail.
A box!
How to open a box 101
What's in it? That's no longer a surprise, but here's a pic of the box inside the box.
Oh look, a 9! But uhm, what are those pieces of paracord and why did someone leave his mints in my package?
The Altoids tin also contains something...
What the...
So not only did granite help me out saving a few $$ (in fact, enough to get micarta handles for it, true story) in getting this 9 to me, he also added two lanyards to the package AND an altoids tin with firemaking supplies such as fatwood, fire straws and I suppose cotton balls? You sir, are AWESOME and far too kind...That pretty much made this 9 good to go.
Lanyard attached, tin in the front pouch of the sheath...
Gratuitous in hand pic with the christmas tree!
Thanks again granite, I'm really going to enjoy all this. You went above and beyond and that speaks very highly of you... THANKS!
