YOU decide what blades I take

OK, here's what I have narrowed down my collection to for a 2 night camping trip, I would take em all (I hate leaving my toys behind. :p) but it's a fairly rugged 4-5 hour hike with a few heartbreaking mountains thrown in, weight is an issue.
Here's the terrain,

OK, I will list some lighter folders as well, so I can possibly carry two of them.
I brought my Bark River Fox River last year, but will list it again, it did very well.;)

Cold Steel Bushman (some bear protection, maybe)
Mora 2000
Muskrat Man Bushcrafter
Fox River
Opinel #8 inox drop point
Grohmann mini skinner
Leatherman Wave
Vic OHT
Vic farmer

Debating on bringing my fiskars 14'' hatchet, it may not get used at all.

Right now I am leaning toward the Mora 2000 and the OHT, light and versatile, plus I have a sweet neck rig from Normark for the OHT.

m2k and vic oht should handle business ... i would go with the farmer for the plain edge and smaller/slimmer profile but heck you just got a new rig so you gotta try it out :p

i personally would also bring the bushman... since its the cheapest knife out of the bunch and i wouldnt feel bad having at it :)

Vic Farmer for sure. And then you can take any fixed blade you'd like. Cuz it's not like your gonna use it anyway. Not with a Farmer around. :D

Nice terrain!

I'd go with the Muskrat Man bushcrafter and the Wave. Nice combo, and versatile.

All the best,

- Mike

I really like my Mora 2000, but Muscratman Bushcrafter sounds like another good choice.

By the way, are those pics from a place called "Fishing Cove" on the west side of Cape Breton? About 15 years ago in college two buddies and I did a biking/hiking/van tour of Nova Scotia and PEI and I recall a several mile hike down to a cove that looks much like that. Cliffs on either side of a nice inlet with a small river/large stream flowing out to the sea. Lots of area to camp in the meadow along the stream and blueberries everywhere. It was a fantastic time and I really want to do it again someday.

VIC OHT (if not for the new neck sheath I'd vote Farmer) and the Muskratman Bushcrafter. And you might as well throw the Bushman or Fiskers in.

Off topic I know, but how does the bushman chop if you have it on a 18" or 20" handle?

Fox river, for bushcrafting. Then you have your one hand opening leatherman wave with a bunch of tools, including a saw. That's what I'd take.

As you can see I have a neck rig for the farmer as well, but I was thinking I liked the longer saw. I then realized I am bringing a folding sawvivor camp saw, so it's a non issue.

PB Wilson, it is pretty close to fishing cove, it's called Pollets cove, a former fishing community that was too isolated to maintain it's population and was abandoned over 70 years ago. It's a pretty popular spot but there is plenty of room for everyone.

Brandon, I haven't tried that yet, but have been meaning too.

So far, the farmer is way ahead, and the MM and the M2000 are about neck and neck. Might go out and do a bit of whittling with both to see what inspiration comes to me. Both are pretty light so maybe both?:D
The opinel is pretty light (and cheap) so it may come along as a lender, the rest of the group probably wont have a knife between the bunch, maybe I will convert them. :) The frosts crooked knife is going to make all the camp utensils and impress the ladies, they need them for the camp kitchen, after all. :D
Now the Fiskars and the bushman, what to do...

I carved a really nice big spoon with the fox last year, but I really haven't had a chance to use any of my scandi blades yet, including my moras.
