OK, so here is the deal. I really want one of these knives, but cannot decide what to get. I am going on a 3-4 day camping trip in about a month and want one of these for the trip. So here goes:

I am trying to decide which to get, the RC-3 or the RC-4. I already have a ZT 0121(smaller fixed blade than the RC-3) AND I already have the RAT-5 (bigger than RC-4 as far as I know)

So I kind of want the RC-3, but am worried it might not be big enough like the RC-4. I will not really be doing hard work with it. mabee some occasional wood splitting. *EDIT* I might also be doing light food prep.

I would love to have both, but I do not at this time want to drop $200+ for both when one is just bigger/smaller than the other. Which would you decide on?

Wood splitting buy a ax or hatchet, not saying the RC can not handle the task, but for safety use the proper tool...buy the RC 4, excellent all around outdoor blade

Well if you had to choose one I say get the RC-4:thumbup:
A quality 4" blade like this can pretty much handle everything.

Here is a comparison shot of the 3 rats you mentioned.

Definitely think I will be getting the RC-4!

Nice picture ,just from that pic ,you know what I see, the RC 's coating even looks better in the pics, that phosphate coating just does not hold up very long....I own several Ontario RATs(9) and the coating wears quickly,vs my RC blades(3)... LOL !

Oh, I know, some simple wood splitting and I have lots of scratches on the blade.

When I first got my Rat-5, I carried it and in the first hour I had lots of wear!

Thanks Tony, I just saw that pic you posted of the 3 RC's, is the RC-6 available, and where?

Thanks,
Tony m

The RC4 will handle food prep just fine - and will be a little more robust for your general uses in the woods.

I say go for the RC4. I cut salami, cheese and bread with it yesterday adn it worked perfect.

Plus, I batoned the heck out of it and it did just great!!!!

Have fun with it.

I think we need to settle this once and for all.

Cagematch RC4 vs. RC3, no holds barred.

Either that or we need a RC3.5

thanks for the replies guys, happens i did come across some cash today, so I bought both!

I think I am going to like them!
