So, this is an unusual post I am sure.

Several months ago I picked out and bought a BEAUTIFUL case mini-trapper with amber bone scales. I coveted this little guy for awhile and saved up and finally bought her home. And...i never carry it. I think I am afraid of messing it up, scratching it up, what have you.

I think i carried it a few days, but didnt cut anything with it except to trim my nails a little. It hasnt touched a stone yet, just stropped it a little when i first brought her home.

I dunno, I think its a dang shame, to me its just a gorgeous example of a case knife. And its basically flawless, no gaps, no wobble, perfectly centered blades, smooth action, half stops etc etc. Its stainless steel rather than CV which at first was a bit of a turn off, but real life has shown me that stainless does alot better for me than CV (working in a warehouse with no AC, constant sweating...i can rust stainless steel and do, but CV is a chore to keep from rusting). SO i dont really consider that to be a turn off anymore.

Anyways, i was looking through my photobucket knife pics and it reminded me just how beautiful this knife is and I wonder if anyone else has something like this in their collection (Oh man, i just realized i have a safe queen and didnt realize it!)

and some pics

It's the case 4 1/4 stockman for me. I absolutly love the knife but it's way to big for pocket carry and I don't like sheaths.

HA!

I have a never carried knife - funny part is: it's a Case Mini-Trapper. Though it's a Chestnut Bone in CV. It's sitting in my knife drawer in its box. It's perfect. I had to send two knives in to Case, for gaps and centering issues, to get this one perfect specimen.

Maybe if the blades discolor on their own (will that happen in its box in Southern California?), I'll have the heart to use it.

I really like pearl and abalone and I have several knives with those handles but I rarely use any of them because of my fear that I will drop it and break the covers. I don't know what to do about it really. That mini trapper is really nice, but I don't think I'd have a problem carrying and using it. Then again you might not have a problem carrying and using one of mine.

My brother gave me the exact same knife years ago. Believe me you dont have to baby it. Mine spent a week underwater and the back spring developed minimal rust, but thats all. blades were not affected, and the bone didn't swell. My bolsters are a little scratched but to be honest, they look pretty cool. Only case knife i have other than a tiny single blade i found (sans the case shield) in the cracks of an old chair. I really like it, case is good old school style quality.

hmm let's see. I have a few.
A Case XX-Changer (hunter's model) It's already got tarnished bolsters from fondling, but I don't have the heart to carry it hunting (or anywhere else) for fear of losing a blade, breaking the saw, gumming it up, etc.
A Case stockman in CV with yella scales, not sure the size. it was a gift, and I don't want to mess it up.
An old Camillus barlow and folding hunter. Scared I'll lose them and not be able to find a suitable replacement.
An old Uncle Henry USA stockman junior. Belonged to my uncle, was gifted to me when he passed away.
I think that's all for now.

Yep, my 50th birthday gift. I carried it a few times, but found it just too pretty to use for hard work, and that is why I have recently arranged a sale. I only keep the ones I use.

I have a couple that my great uncle gave me that I don't carry for fear of losing. My case peanut in cv is only carried half of the year. I sweat so much in the summer its like being at the ocean. Feel bad but want that great little nut to last.

Tidioute Sleeveboard in purple sage bone. I wanted to try out their sleeveboard pattern but haven't gotten around to using it. I'm impressed how GEC has stepped up the game for their tidioute brand this year. Damn near perfect. Hard, smooth snaps, nice bone color, impressive grinds and centering. It's an equal end pattern that DOESN'T rub each other. I recently gave my easy open jack that I barely used to a buddy in Canada, so who knows where it'll end up.

I have an infatuation with large folding hunter patterns, such as the Case 6265 pattern. Collected a bunch of them, as well as some equivalent Queen versions, but have never carried any of them. Cool pattern, but simply too big to be practical for my uses.

I have quite a few larger knives that I don't carry just because of their size. 4-1/4" is about my maximum for carry.

I have hundreds of knives that are too pretty to use, including a few from Case.
