So say someone just handed you 100 bucks and said you can only use it to buy a folding knife. What would it be? Lets hear it!

Hmmm that same situation happened to me recently and I got a SOG Mini Vulcan ($85)! I don't understand why people hate on SOG, this thing is stellar quality and is my overall favorite knife right now. FAST deployment (With 3 different options to open it), smooth, nice ergos, VG-10 blade, and a perfect deep carry pocket clip. Plus it just looks awesome.

I love those SOGs too, but I already have my tomcat3. So, I'd go with a spyderco police in stainless steel handle. I love the look of that thing. Looks like somthing a FBI guy would use back in the 90s.

Right now the folder I'd really like to get, which happens to be $100 or so, is a friction folder by Michael Morris. Same setup as below.

the original Paramilitary seems to be going for about $100 on clearence these days

Maybe the Spyderco J.D. Smith, I think I've seen it for $100 in a place or two.

Where are you guys seeing those knives for $100?

If I had $100 I would look around for a gently used Al Mar Sere 2000, a Benchmade 710, or Spyderco Chinook (old style), maybe an old Buck Strider, or a Spyderco Military. It really depends on what you want the knife for.

All of those knives have different ergonomics, and all of the blade profiles are different. They are all used for cutting different types of materials. If you want a good slicer, the Military would be excellent due to the thin flat grind of the blade. If you want a good all purpose knife that will do a lot of things well, the Sere would be the way to go. Same with the 710. If you want it to primarily cut things, but poke people in a pinch, the chinook would be great.

I have gone through a TON of $100 knives. I mean literally over a hundred. The one I keep in my pocket is a VERY well used Al Mar Sere 2000 that I got in a trade from a gentleman who lives in Alaska. It's been a constant companion for over 8 years.
