ok guys
I wanted to take a minute and say what I think about KAI
first off I own several really expensive zero tolerance knives, but these guys don't discriminate

my kershaw 1920 select fire lost a retaining screw on the belt clip.
I contacted them about just getting the screw sent out, figured .33 cents postage etc

NOPE, send it in to us. We don't send parts for that one. I fill out the form on it, drop it in a
3 day priority box, and off it went. Now for those of you that have ever sent one in, you know
you select if it has sentimental value yes/no?
well It had no special value to me, its a tool. My knife was a bit rusty on the blade but serviceable.
They send me a new in the package knife to replace it with. How can you not like these guys?
I only own Kershaw blades, and now I know why.

bet you thought I was going to bitch about them didn't ya?

Cool story. I am actually about to send my select fire in because the thumb stud fell off. Problem is I use it every day and really don't want to go without for a couple weeks. Actually thinking about buying a replacement to get me through a few weeks. Such a great design for ~$20.

Not to start anything, but I wasn't terribly impressed with the fabled Kai warranty services. About a month back my torsion bar on my leek broke and I emailed them about a replacement. They responded fast and communication wasn't an issue, but I still haven't received the parts so I emailed them again. Like last time they responded quickly and said they would send out another. To be fair it might have been the postage systems failure, but I was disappointed just the same.

Oh I was about to rant.......

Kai definitely has stand up customer service!

I'm guessing the postal loss is more of a substantial theory. Sounds like your dissapointment is misplaced.

No system is perfect, give them some slack. They far exceed just about any company.

Yeah I figured as much. I guess I really shouldn't complain after spending 15 minutes on hold today trying to just talk to a real person for a bank issue. :D

I hate banks, cell phone carriers and most other companies. KAI is a breath of fresh air when ever I have to ask them for something. "Can I please get this?" BAM! problem fixed and it took a whole 2 minutes. Maybe we should elect Thomas as president? Dont tell him I said that, it might go to his head. :)

Ive never had to deal with any issues at KAI. Today I went to a local knife shop and had my 550 re-profiled after getting a small chip. I usually maintain my own edges but didnt want to mess it up and the guy that sharpens at the shop does really good work. I know I could have sent it to kershaw or taken it in but not worth the time. Someday Ill have to take a knife in but knowing what ive heard about customer service they stand behind the product.

I hope they fix up my zt0551 she was delivered to them yesterday it had some major issues and all of them were from poor QC in the low serial numbered 55x knives. I will be rather upset if it doesn't come back fixed

I just wish they could hook me up with a new G10 Leek scale. I wouldn't even mind sending it in and paying for it.
